Just about stopped here now, leaving a slight covering. Just goes to show how 'primed' the atmosphere is for snow this weekend I think.

Eyes now to the east to see how far that really heavy stuff now getting across to Cambridge can make it towards us.

Then later tonight it will be eyes to the south to see if the more organised snow materialises and where it tracks.

A very interesting day weather wise!

Yep, 90% confidence for here between 2-8am for heavy snow lol.

Well, at least I don't have to worry about heavily pregnant daughter this time around. I'm now worrying about t'other daughter who has gone on a coach day trip to Bletchley Park! The Beast from the East sure does pick his times. ??

It does seem on the radar that that area of snow to the north of London is growing nicely and moving steadily ESE to me.

Light snow in Wantage this morning, reduced to a few flakes now.   HIRLAM 6z has more significant snow for Oxfordshire overnight:

Cumulative snow to Monday morning, guess we'll see how good this model is if there's a red warning issued for the Exeter area!

Bletchley Park well worth a visit! I'm sure she'll be fine today.The motorways and A roads should be OK, at least, until this evening.

Yacking it down now, much bigger flakes than the last beast and it's settling well too everything turning white already. Going by the usual schedule, hubby and mates should be going across the top of the Mendips right now :rofl:

Really neat to watch the streamer-type snow chasing the front south while reaching ever-further west as the cold air aloft surges across. It will be interesting to see what the balance of play is between drier air and greater vertical instability as that colder air interacts with the front.

Had some impressive wind gusts here so far today for an easterly flow; not far short of 50 mph. Few flakes in that wind too.
