Moorland fire up the top-end of the Goyt late this afternoon and firefighters will be standing down past sunset (about this time in writing) due to safety. Smoke plume from it was drifting all the way down to the Hope Valley, easily seen along the A5004 and Cat+Fiddle road which may still be closed at this time.

I don't think it'll be the same fire as there's around 100miles between the lakes and peaks, and this smoke was only going up to 5000ft (based on the usual Manchester inbounds before they were diverting around). I'm surprised with so many people being out that there hasn't been any more wildfires around here today.

Unbroken sunshine and very warm. I’ve been surprised how warm it has got here recently given how cold the sea still is. Max yesterday 24.6°C. Min overnight 10.0°C. Currently 24.7°C. Current SST 53°F which has risen a lot from a few days ago.

I expect a sea breeze to develop within the next 2 hours.

Unfortunately ,I missed the warmest spell of the year so far, however spending Thurs-Mon down on the southern Costa Blanca certainly compensated,☀️

Raining in Blackpool and Liverpool at this time whilst for us more inland it's still blue skies and 20'c. Going to be a shock for some when in a hour or two the front begins to move over although it'll be interesting seeing it do so via timelapse.

Well it's only 15C outside but in the strong May sun it feels a good deal warmer than that. Not a bad Sunday afternoon.

Agreed, a couple of chilly starts have turned into warm feeling sunny afternoons although the actual temperatures have only been mid teens.

anyway only 5 days left to work before what should be a hot, hot, hot weeks holiday in Turkey.

A decent weekend here. Largely dry both days and a cracker of a day today with mostly sunny skies. Very pleasant for being outside. Not amazingly high temps, but as others but have said above, the strong sunshine makes all the difference this time of year. A nice comfortable night for sleeping to follow as well with temps falling to around 6C. Another fabulous day to come tomorrow as well with bags of sunshine and temps nudging 20C.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
