Again the GFS shows really no signs of Spring again showing a cold Easter with further Snow and Ice This time from the North.

Looks like we could go from winter to Summer this year.

Yes, very interesting outlook!

Still light snow falling here and the snow survived 80% in balcony :-)

Well what a memorable month its been, thoroughly enjoyed it. I missed out on the end of March 2013 snowfall because the wind was south-easterly creating the rain/snow shadow, it was gutting to see the snow in places north, south, east and west of here. But this month has more than made up for that disappointment.

Not sure what is going on with Net Weather Radar but it is showing quite a lot of light snow over Northern England

Light snow flurries have kept going on and off all day. If these keep going for a few hours, I'd imagine we will end up with a further light dusting of snow now that the sun has gone down. Really thought the showers would have died out by now but seems to be a constant train of flurries moving across from the East on the radar.

Weird effect on the lawn,  some snow has turned to clear ice, looks like pieces of glass or broken clear sugar glass candy

I think it's because the ground is not very cold, so when the wind drops the snow melts to slush. Then the freezing wind picks up and it freezes again.

Interesting looking at the Radar at the snow coming up from the south The Models really look like they missed this one,was forecast to run along the far south of the Country it is now making progress into

The Midlands

A very bitter day, every bit as cold as yesterday with a biting east wind. Light snow flurries off and on, and only very limited brightness. Drifts of snow in sheltered parts, but amounts not significant. Its very icy out this evening, and will be first thing in the morning.

There was -23 degree windchill on top of Helvellyn today.

Tomorrow should bring sunnier skies but still very cold with that nagging wind, despite temps perhaps climbing up to 5 degrees, albeit only for a short period.

Next week looks to bring fairly average fayre thereafter, but thankfully the wind will die down.

Longer term - eyes to the north and north east..

A sensuous feather bed of deep white fallen snow here in the Hope Valley tonight, with icicle bedposts and spun-drift-dunes of compressed powder.

A welcome candle-lit refuge at the hidden away Shack after a day wandering on the hill.

There’s a chap in the far field who has insisted on staying under canvas with his vociferous dog these past two nights. A red dome and a white dog with two bright pink mouths. Snow-stuck fur and clothes. Muddy-thawing paws and boots. I took them an extra sleeping bag and a hot water bottle - as the night is charged with ice - cold like a stab of hope; cool, like a streak of courage and thin-grinning as the sliver of waxing hours past a new moon destined to be rising beyond the wind freeze and sky-brushing trees.

I enjoyed reading that - much more than the weather!  Very cold on Winter Hill, but the strong, freezing wind yesterday seems to have disappeared a lot of the snow round mine, thank goodness.

Another fabulous event here, to add to the one a few weeks ago.*still big drifts locally.

December was reasonable, january was a bit meh but late Feb and now march have delivered so its been a decent winter up here, id rate it at 8/10 now.

Really hope we get a decent summer, clocks go froward saturday so it wont be going dark until after 7pm-

I feel justified in my hoping for an easterly, of course they are not always snowy but i guess my locale go lucky this couple of times, i'd love these synoptics in late December but beggars cant be choosers as they say.

Its snowed every month from November onwards. Can we have snow falling in April to make it 6 months in a row?
