Snow showers will be great but I am also keeping an eye on frontal snow from the Atlantic as long as it comes in the right angle.

No matter what, I am pleased to see the prospect of frosts and wintry weather. Anything that will shorten the long wait for next winter is good for me.

By the way, the sun has been spotless for 52% of the days so far this year which is a big reduction is solar activity since last year. The next few winters are looking very interesting! :yahoo::yahoo:

Plenty of rain at the minute making it's way east across the Peaks and it looks to be a washout afternoon with skies already darkening towards the hills. A second easterly will be less-welcome this time of early spring given it's lambing season, a short but sharp temperature drop is normally expected in March but anything that produces similar results to what we had almost 2 weeks ago will hit farmers and agriculture for the long-term recovery.

It would have to be something monumental to produce the same results as two weeks ago.

Either way, I am not a fair weather watcher and thankfully I have no lambs to take care of.

In Denton at the moment. Bright colours on the radar about to stride over the Pennines.

Amen to that. Everywhere soggy and waterlogged. Fed up of rain now. Blue skies and sunshine would do me just fine.

It's also part of life and is pretty much under no ones control so whats the point of whining about it?

If you have lambs or anything else that is affected by the cold feel free to worry about it - it will make no difference!

I will not worry about something I don't need to!

Apologies. Neither was I.

I was merely stating that I was taking care of my roast. I was not referring to the suffering of new born lambs due to the extreme cold forecast.

Well we know easterlies don’t deliver in terms of snow here on the coast unless you get a short-wave after last time,  but I would be interested to see what low minima we can get as cloud rather spoiled things last month.

we got three parts of fffery little out of the Beast, rain shadow from the Eastern fells and Pennines. although some of the becks were starting to show ice around margins and the edges of rocks, looked very wintry!  March 2013 was epic in terms of late season cold and also snow around 22/23rd March. If it happens again I'll be surprised.

Lambing Season hereabouts doesn't usually get into full swing until April, the hill farmers are well enough versed in delaying the pregnancy if they can I guess, although I do remember from 2013, the Isle of Man was unusually hard hit regarding lamb and sheep deaths.

Consideration for others of the highest order.

I will let you worry about them for both of us.

Although in reality it is worry about the farmers profits and not about the lambs because the lambs will get slaughtered anyway...

So they don't suffer then?

My guess is your a City type -  the only connection you have with livestock is when you see it on a shelf in a supermarket fridge?

Any chance of snow this weekend?

Forecast around freezing ??

Far too early to have any idea about that.  There is certainly a risk though. Probably our best chance is early next week. I’ll post my thoughts the day before any possible snow event.

I don't eat meat so if I see it on the supermarket fridge I just pass by.

As a fan of weather extremes, on a weather forum.

I for one am hoping for some sharp frosts and some more snow.
