Nice to see some areas that missed out last week getting the snow today. Just sleety rain here, even if it turns to snow it won't make any impact.

Once again the Met Office didn't do well. The initial warning was for areas further south (north Mids, south Pennines) and then they adjusted it northwards last night.

 Turned to rain briefly and has now stopped. That’ll be it now. That’s always how this type of set up ends. Need to get some sleep now, stayed up all night for that, glad I did.

Turning sleety here I think. I hate it when it comes and goes all of the sudden.

It prefer this setup in the cold spell.

Why did they have to close schools? Will be gone by lunchtime. Are they going to open again in the afternoon?

THIs is ours, nothing spectacular, but Wigan and further west seem to have done a lot better.

Its just primary schools are shut here today. No secondary schools are shut.

Some stats for today. 21st air frost, 15th day with snow falling, 6th day with snow lying of the winter.

What is interesting is that snow fell and settled in places close to the coast with upper air temperatures higher than -5c. All due to lack of sea influence and intensity of precipitation. This is why the continent easily manages to get snow events out of marginal situations.

Decent covering a few hours ago, mostly melted now though, best snow fall of the winter though, surprising considering how mild it felt yesterday
