Fourth day in a row of 28c or above.... loving the weather but hoping the fires, which look to be smouldering from this side  the valley, can eventually be kept under some sort of control... doesn’t look like rain in the next week... can see some form of hosepipe ban coming into force soon...

Winter Hill is alight with the second major moorfire now in progress with some 50 crews from Lancs FB at the scene. Locally the Derbyshire Fire crews have had their 4th callout within the space of a day dealing to a grassland fire atop of Eccles Pike which originated from some broken glass.

I thought I could see smoke.

GFS 12Z is very worrying if you want rain. No rain at least until next Friday!

I thought tomorrow was supposed to be 'slightly' cooler. Metoffice going for 31c again though. Not good news about Winter Hill now also being on fire. A deluge of rain would be most welcome to help extinguish these fires, but looking dry and hot for several days to come. Incredible period of weather. Looks like the slim chance of thunderstorms has now diminished for the back end of the weekend now.

Still 45c in direct sun... 26c still in shade... just watered garden at half time... made fire pit with a couple of grills on tripods with pulleys... hotdogs and onions before kickoff... beer butt chicken for final whistle... lookslike this weathers set to stay for at least another ten days (plus or minus a few degrees) loving the sun and warmth but not liking the fires and glad peeps are thinking about the firefighters... community spirit

Probably won't be the last of the fires if this hot dry spell continues.   From a personal point of view the low humidity had made it much bearable.  Feels like it should instead of feeling like your in a greenhouse and cloaked in moisture.

Stiflingly hot here again today with all the windows and doors open now the sun is down, local firecrews currently on their 5th shout of today attending a small fire by the local reservoir in woodland. Thanks to a eagle-eyed passer by who raised the alarm after discovering a few local idiots had left it smouldering away...the mind boggles sometimes.

It's getting to the point now where even someone throwing a cigarette butt onto dry grassy areas could cause major issues. Not just on about moorland areas neither. Verges and everything here are yellowy brown.

Could be looking at an early autumn in terms of tree leaf change too. Would imagine they'll be yellowing off back end of July at this rate.

Yup, looking like this is going to be a memorable spell. If not for all the right reasons. Can foresee a few more fires going off if it stays like this another week.

Oh dear .... i'm assuming theres some kind of easterly flow involved there then ?  looks like some of the ppn charts that were posted throughout the cold easterly events during the winter.

Met office going for a high of 32C in the region today.

Yesterday was the 3rd consecutive day of 30C and above. Today looks likely to be the fourth. Exceptional weather. Something only those south of the English border are used to!

Long May it continue!

Again , Manchester hottest city in England. Keswick and Cheshire also the hot spots in England. Just amazing spell of heat for the NW of England, maybe one of the longest dry spells for years in some  places.
