Storms to the SW of Stoke seem to be heading in a NNE direction. Maybe they will affect Manchester and the edge of the Peak District later

Dray all day at work but the clouds over towards home looked black and then just before I could get out of the car is started peeeeeeing down.

Plenty of thunder now and torrential rain, just hope it clears the air because it’s certainly ruined my plans for the evening.

Just on the edge of some intense thundery outbreaks, its just skirting us to the north at the moment - hit and miss whether we see anything, just has odd spots so far. Its very humid - need to clear the air.

Looking at the radar this storm is moving nowhere fast and I am right under the brightest colours.

it has eased off a fair bit but is still hammering it down and with the heat and sun trying to come out it feels like the Caribbean.

Torrential rain at the moment but no thunder or lightning.

Showers seem to be just developing to the north of my vicinity... Shaw is 3 miles north of me and they look like getting some downpours at present....Bolton also showing a few strikes on the lightning map.  Some home grown showers bubbling up south towards Glossop area so maybe that will be my best chance if they spread directly northwards.

Leaving on a main road it’s easy to forget how much noise our double glazed windows keep out until the odd time the heat in the living room forces us to open them.

now it’s nothing but the noise of thundering traffic along with plenty of rumbles of proper thunder and it’s still damn warm in the house.

Yep finally the heavens have opened up, already feels a tad fresher.  Nice lightning strike as well with a follow-up rumble.

Deep rumbles of thunder here and rain. Hopefully should freshen things up a bit. Been stuffy out today.
