It was a business trip though copious amounts of alcohol where consumed and a game of bloody golf which I hate lol

Sounds unbearable if work involves golf and beer

Another day of beautiful sunshine here on the coast, still waiting for a storm though

Looking at the latest metoffice video forecast, some heavy thundery showers might move into the region tomorrow. Though looking at charts and the metoffice own precip charts, they don’t agree hmmm.

Another sunny and very warm day in Workington. However, quite breezy today.

No, it almost certainly goes beyond bad luck. Happens time and again. Everything just dies off before it gets here.

Whatever happened to the days where storms would develop and push up through the Welsh Marches/W Midlands into Cheshire etc. Can remember numerous times in my childhood where that happened.

In fact I think I remember @carinthian saying this was a well known thunderstorm track.

Its some time ago now since I lived in Cheshire. However, the best storms always came up from the south, especially out of Shropshire. Maybe you have just not had the right summertime synoptics for this to be as frequent during the past few years but I do clearly remember watching some great storms track northwards over the plain during the 70s and 80s.

Raining here too! East Lancashire. Probably the first 'proper' rain in about two weeks. Warm outside, but has been overcast most of the morning. It would be nice to hear a rumble or two in the coming days! And not from my stomach might I add!!!

Beeb weather app says thunder for Manchester in the early hours of Friday morning.

Talk about carrot, only to be downgraded on the next update

the closest you'll get to thunder in the nw is if a neighbour knocks their bins over all at once.

Decent morning but along with most, a wet period during the afternoon although dry again now.

hopefully this is as bad as it gets this week and we can have a return to some sunshine.
