Clouds already bubbling up here readily and shown well on sat24 as a developing line down the Southern Pennines, into the Midlands. Is this the convergence zone mentioned above?

Probably. I can see cumulus clouds building to my east, probably over the Pennines.

Apparently the convergence is strongest up here around 6-9pm.

Wow, that's bubbled up from nowhere over Middleton in just 30 mins.

Not posted for awhile but according to the radar there should be a lively blossoming of heavy showers over my slate roof, but I think it's just slipped by heading west before firing off it's ammo.  Cloudy but dry at present.  A very nice settled spell of late and agree this weather it just about perfect.  Late May...temps in early 20's, with a refreshing breeze every now and again.

Chucking it down in the city centre, and I left my coat at home this morning. The proportion of folks going into Piccadilly with an umbrella is much lower than usual too. Lots of scurrying commuters.

Best not look at the coming weekend and beyond then. The word vile comes to mind.

Back home, only 3 miles away, it's barely rained at all.

Crazy how localised these have been today. Only had a few spits and spots here.

Well, that was a beautiful day. A trifle fresh at first, but warm enough as the day wore on. Cool enough at lunchtime to sit out in the sun, whereas yesterday I sought the shade.

"Fresh" won't be a word we'll be using for long. Looks muggy as hell from the weekend. Far too unpleasant.

The last time we had a spell of weather like this was July 2014, glorious stuff and overdue.

Unlike the south east

Liverpool, Blackpool and Walney Island in the top 5 UK hot spots at the moment. Right synoptics can deliver a continental climate for the NW. Well pleased as I have spent 4 beautiful sun filled days in this part of the world .

Made my way to Skipton today. Beautiful warm sun filled evening. Having a pint of Black Sheep in the beer garden of the Bull at Broughton surrounded by the lovely countryside of the South Dales .
