As per of course always happens and we are all gonna miss out on that lot as well as it goes to the east of the NW think i'm calling a bust now unless we get lucky.

Still heavy showers going up west of the region too so I think we still have a good few hours.

..but nothing to the south really, if the line started near Pembroke perhaps but nothing is happening until Gwynedd and Clywd northwards.

Deja Vu all over again. This happened last year, parts of the region were in favoured spots in storm forecasts and each time it ended in a bust.

Feeling more like a July or August evening out there tonight - we've had some significant bolts of lightening in the past half hour, and a bit of rain, but nothing directly overhead. Loud rumbles of thunder. The radar has sprung into life over Cumbria, and there looks to be some potent stuff about to move north any minute now. Likely to be shortlived, but notable for so early in the season.

Recent years have been poor on the thunderstorm front, indeed barely a clap in some years.

Tomorrow will bring much fresher conditions. Today was a cracker, warm, light winds, blue albeit hazy skies. April and May often do deliver the most prolonged driest most settled conditions here, along with early September it seems. It all tends to go downhill in June..

Yeah was an absolutely beautiful day to be on the tops, very mid summerish, but with a different more genial, less harsh midday sun. Didn't prevent Mrs C getting a touch more colour than desired but hey, better than the mildewfest we'd otherwise have!

Managed the first bbq of the year, utterly sublime as the midges aren't in full flow yet!

I think we got your rain as it suckered down, my daughter was at ours when it started had to dash home to get washing in. She's back here now borrowing the the tumble dryer!

2017 into 2018 has been so close yet so far for here. I hope the storm season will be better, and this is a one off ?

There's must be some scientific explanation for why it's always such a fail for certain parts of the region ?

Not looking promising for Middlesbrough which is a shame as the clouds earlier looked promising. Unless here in the East we get a surprise out of the blue in the early hours
