Maybe on Saturday afternoon looks like a band of showers/thunderstorms are pushing north during the day getting into NE Wales and the NW by late afternoon/early evening. I'll do Chris' job for him:rofl:  but i don't think i'm as knowledgeable as him when it comes to convective activity so he'll probably summarise it better than me.

First thought is Noctilucent Clouds but it's a little early in the season. There's fog forecast for the morning due to the inversion overhead so it could more likely be street-lights reflecting off trapped moisture in the air.

Not complaining about the cloud too much this morning as it's cooling down the house nicely with the windows-open after a sultry night, vis.sat showing it burning off as the temps are on the increase so a refreshing start to another day of expected warm temps with blue skies in the afternoon.

Looking towards tomorrow there's thundery showers/storms expected from midday initiating in the Midlands/Wales headed into the NW into the evening, i'll be up around the moors supporting a weekend race at this time so keeping an eye on those developments for the obvious reason of having 20+ fell-runners being on the top of Bleaklow plateau.

Depending on the time and direction, maybe the floodlights at Turf Moor although they’d hardly be an unusual site in Burnley.

Much better day today. Still sunny and dry but with a much fresher, stronger breeze. Really does make all the difference. Looking sticky tomorrow though :nonono:

Extremely moderate given the high pressure .:sorry:

They’ve got the last couple of forecasts correct, and Metoffice are going for thunderstorms tomorrow evening into the night too.

Glorious sunshine tonight and seems like a pretty good risk of thunderstorms this evening, Metoffice putting them mostly in the east of the region, but all areas are probably around 20-30% risk of a storm from later on this afternoon (some saying possibly from 2pm, but I think more around 4pm onwards).

Yeah a lovely start to the day and then the chance of it going out with a bang later.

IMBY i just hope that the storms stay away until this evening so I can get a decent days work done in the garden but after the poor start to spring so far, the last few days have been fantastic and certainly a welcome bonus.

Bbq plan for this evening looks scuppered but I don't mind if it means we get some thunderstorms.

According to netweather storm forecast, approx 1500j/kg cape and lifted index of -5 forecast between 19:00 and 22:00 in my location. Bags of energy, just hope it can be released!

Been out in West Cheshire this morning and first part of this afternoon and we have had cloudless skies, but slightly hazy. Decent heating going on which will be building the energy nicely for later.

Grass cut and strimmed so as far as i’m concerned, the storms can start lining up although I can’t see my wife and daughter being that happy wandering around Manchester in the pouring rain.
