Anyone reported any thunder this year? I think some people have reported thundersnow.

I am struggling to remember the last time we had thunder for my location. The last thunderstorm was 13th September 2016 and even that we caught the western edge of it.

Had a few rounds of thundersnow in the NW flows around Jan/Feb time. Had a crack of thunder last Tuesday evening in a downpour as well.

Mist has cleared, make the most of the sunny start, grey skies and rain to come later and into tomorrow.

Gloriously sunny from the word go here today. I think it will remain dry in daylight hours here, albeit likely to cloud in as the day progresses.

Another very unexpected cold night; like the previous one 5°C below what was forecast. Minimum 1.9°C. There was probably a frost at sunrise. Now 12.7°C. I like the diurnal ranges at this time of year.

Just 1 thunder day ffor me this year 19th Jan. One rumble of thunder during a hail shower from ocean effect convection enhanced by a convergence zone and an occlusion.

Max 15.2°C a few minutes ago. Looks like that’s the last of the Sun now.

Crosby was both the third warmest and eighth coldest place yesterday with a maximum of 15.4°C and a minimum of 0.1°C officially. Shows what a good off-shore wind can accomplish. Looks like more of that over the coming days.

In the “where will the first 20°C be” thread I predicted Crosby, Rhyl, Valley or Hawarden on the 18th. Let’s see how close I get it.

Compared to yesterday morning/afternoon today has been a dullfest with rain and persistent cloud all day. The strength of the sun giving a 'warning' to me yesterday as I was out waiting for a 1hr late bus in the mornings blue sky facing the sun and getting slightly reddened across the face because of it. Its easy to forget the suncream this time of year after all the cold days and long dark nights.

Yesterday brought the first real warmth of the year, first day comfortable enough to go round with a light jacket, gosh even no jacket. Today a complete contrast back to grey wet leaden skies and a cold feel - not good. Rest of the week looking fairly dull though hopefully not especially wet - still very uninspiring, pity next weeks promised warmer drier spell doesn't look like arriving in time for the weekend - could really do with a fairweather pleasant one with some warmth.

Still light levels are increasing markedly and we are nearing May - the best month of the year in my book. We will soon be seeing shades of green appearing in the countryside, next week will bring a marked sudden change to the look of it in this respect.

I think it'll be a dull cloudy cool week for most of the region. North sea fret looks like I will plague as far west as here almost all week. It won't feel particularly pleasant I suspect with temperatures remaining below average (just).. though further south in the country might get some pleasant Spring weather..
