Looks very knife edge in terms of snow potential on Monday. If we end up on the right side of marginal, could be quite a dumping, albeit transient. However, fully expecting a miserable wet day.  Looking further ahead and it looks like there may be some decent convective potential on Tuesday afternoon. Very much looking forward to the convective season now.

Crosby was the warmest, or second warmest place in the country (depending on what source you look at) yesterday at 10.5°C. Doesn’t surprise me. Max 9.8°C on my station.

Post on the short term model discussion thread mentioning dewpoints of 33-34F on Monday according to ECM. I guess this puts us the wrong side of marginal for snow?

Well text forecast has upgraded again.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Heavy rain turning to snow during the morning of Easter Monday, clearing to heavy showers later. Less cold Tuesday and Wednesday though staying unsettled with further rain or showers.

So the Met still see reasonable risk to word it like that.

I’m the same re your second point; only a month to go until we can be thinking about some proper storms.

Yes, that is fairly bullish. No issues with precipitation intensity, which is looking heavy, so if it is snow, there could be a considerable depth building up in a short space of time, even if only transient. Certainly a fascinating day of weather watching coming up.

A brr day, we are being spared any precipitation but under grey leaden skies and a stiff easterly wind, it is making for a rather cold dismal feel to things, although the sun has tried to break through. Not an inspiring easter saturday to cap off what has been a very wintry March. Remainder of the easter long weekend looks cold, tomorrow hopefully will bring some welcome sunshine but there will be a cold wind, Monday could bring some significant snowfall here before turning to sleety rain in the afternoon.

Another cold night to add to the list, minimum 0.5°C. Coldest April minimum for 2 years.

Well unless you live in Buxton tomorrow looks like nothing more than cold and wet. Looking like a throughly miserable day. I think the worst of the wintry weather is now behind us. Can't complain though it has been a brilliant Winter compared to the previous 4.

Yes, agree with the above, having seen the latest metoffice warning, I can't now see any real potential for decent settling snow below 300-400m and even that could be on the low side. There may be some sleet and snow at first lower down I imagine, but likely to be quite a raw, wet day for most.

Unless things change I doubt even Buxton will get much snow after 9am. Milder air is moving north pretty quickly looks like a dire wet day coming up. I could have enjoyed a day of wet heavy snow as a final  goodbye to winter certainly better than cold heavy rain.

Still think there will be a few surprises under the heaviest precipitation. I’m not changing my sleeping pattern for it though this time.

Actually here it is a bit chilly, washed Mrs C's car earlier, started at 4C at about 5:30, when I'd washed it and took it for a run to dry it and got home, car was reading 2.5C...around 30 mins later. Hardly accurate I know but indicative.
