Still snowing lightly here, around 3 cm on the ground, a proper covering, best of 2017-18. Lovely dry, powdery snow. Definitely sausages for breakfast.

Covering of snow overnight here. Lovely stuff.

Wasn't too impressed my bedroom window froze shut though lol.

Yes, measuring is nigh on impossible given the drifting. Cover varies from a thick dusting to several inches here!

I see my neighbour has been greedy. As if he thought I wouldn't notice him piling it up against the garage door.

Light dandruff snizzle here drifts on the field maybe half an inch.

Over Rawtenstall on the ELR today to see what the fuss is all about :unknw:

There’s a lot of snow in Summerseat, varies from some wind scoured areas to some with drifts. Seems to have been snowing on and off since 4pm yesterday. I imagine Rawtenstall, 150m higher than here, is buried!

I can’t speak for Rawtenstall but higher up the valley in Bacup this is what we’ve got and it’s still coming down like mad.

i don’t know how much as fallen because the wind has blown in around but i’d imagine at least 6 inches and I wouldn’t be surprised if we have drifts of over 6 feet within a few minutes walk of here.

this reminds me so much of 22nd March 2013 and that was the worst since 1979.

Cheshire and Derbyshire Police have said there is no safe route between the counties. Cheshire say if you try it and get stuck you’re on your own because they cant get close to you to rescue you.

Many roads closed up here..

Goodness me only an easterly can produce these kind of results imby.

Any other wind direction doesnt even come close ..

Look at that for a FAX chart

BRAEU_0.gif

Snow has fallen here 15 out of the last 47 days, it feels it has been fairly snowy since the start of February.

It was 14 weeks ago since that Sunday the West Midlands got that huge dump of snow.

Nice fax. Along with the one showing the convergence zone at 18z yesterday, text book examples of getting convective and then frontal snow out of an easterly in NW England.

I classify a snow event from 1 (bit of falling snow), 2 a proper covering then 3 - a proper event (all very subjective). This winter has had loads of 1 and 2 events in Ramsbottom. Then the icing on the cake, 3, 3 rated proper events in just over two weeks in March!!

Still snowing here. Hard to say how much as it’s blowing around. Snow devils are rare here, but not this month.

I think that should include GMR police aswell.

Spare a thought for NHS staff. They are supposed to get in regardless of the conditions.

Both northwest 4x4 response and peak 4x4 response are evidently in East Cheshire helping get people in today. Certainly doing a lot better than Cheshire Council!

Just a cm to two less than the last beast imby, but this was dropped in just 1 night so impressive.

BBC forecast shows the snow clearing shortly but there are still some pretty bright radar echoes across the South Pennines so another couple of hours may yet be on the cards.

one thing is for sure, the Met O underestimated the snow IMBY with us comfortably outside of the Amber area throughout and yet most local roads either blocked or virtually impassible

Worried about the roof. Some of these gusts must be 70+ mph. Creaking and cracking happening regularly.?

To be fair, you were only a whisker away from the amber warning area but you were inside the yellow. I thought the metoffice warnings were fairly accurate to be honest, especially if the wording was read carefully.

Certainly happy with what I've woken up to here. Pretty much the same as the last event.
