radar is doing it’s usual job of not telling true intensities in an easterly. Snowing here, but hardly anything on the radar.

Wow having a blizzard! Ground is way too warm though and it’s melting quickly.

I could be wrong but I think the next few hours are going to be frustrating for my part of Manchester. Two distinct lines of showers have developed and I think we may be in the dry slot in the middle. North Manc and North Cheshire potentially doing well though.

As someone said on the previous page, I still think this is very early doors for this event with the increase in frequency and intensity of showers not really expected until later this afternoon and overnight.

You must be in the sweet spot Ian.

Lots of blue sky and sunshine here.

( occasional light snow but not even sticking to pavements)

Maybe, we missed the heaviest of the showers last time around, certainly compared to yourselves and down into the Peaks so possibly we will be favoured today.

its certainly coming down heavy at the moment.

Snow getting a bit heavier here in Swinton, Salford! Yet again, my hometown of Ipswich in East Anglia looks like it will get a real dumping for a second time. I need to time my trips home better!

I have woken up to a light dusting on some surfaces. Currently light to moderate sideways snow, interspersed with sunshine. The wind is roaring in the trees but doesn't seem to be as bad as it was the night of 1st March.

Sunny with no cloud the wind is howling and biting. Plus it's snowing.

Moderate snow passing through with sun out. Incredible to think that the sun is about as strong as it was the end of September 2011 when maxima of 25+C was being recorded.

Shows how much impact an airmass type can have

And of course the sea surface temperatures. They're somewhere near their coolest now?

The sun has enough strength to be felt through this light breeze though.. if it gets stronger the sun will struggle for any impact on the feel of things

Yes always said, the right synoptics will deliver at any time of year (within reason)

yes the suns going to be a big problem..snow melting rapidly when the sun is out.

Yes it will - nothing significant until this afternoon settling - but the really heavy stuff isn't due until later, when there wont be any sun.

Complete contrast in conditions between heavy cloud and whiteout conditions, to suns pops out and everything is calm again.  We would need to be under a persistent streamer for settling snow during daylight hours

Some large clusters coming over from the east riding of Yorkshire heading towards the southern parts of the region. Not sure how much will survive but given that showers are waxing and waning inland, it should be interesting.

There is a void in the showers running from Bridlington to the Fylde running almost the line of the A59

South of the Ribble looks like seeing snow flurries at least and Fleetwood northwards the same although the Cumbrian fells look like having an impact for western Cumbria.
