Yep..

That rain shadow is horrendous for us ...

Thankfully there was nothing horrendous about the easterly altho i can now see why manchester is dreadful weatherwise..even 1963 apparently wasnt that snow... must of been plenty of south easterlies lol.

Is it the rain shadow though?

Manchester Airport reporting snow.

Mean time just overcast here now

Still getting heavier here. 2 inches on the ground now.  Deepest cover  since March 2013 now, not too much more to go to beat that.

It’s just that computer generated forecasts like that struggle massively to take into account evaporative cooling which is what has caused the snow today. Apps and suchlike are completely useless in set ups like this, most of the time in fact.

Hmmm I’m not fully convinced this is a rain shadow situation. The wind is extremely light (barely any to speak of), normally you need a moderate E/SE’ly. Yes there were suspicious gaps in the radar but they have since filled in. I think we’ve just been unlucky with the intensity of the precipitation.

West is best this morning!

Very wet snow falling here. Not really settling apart from on grass as it’s so wet.
