EURO4 Monday morning is that showers or a wave disturbance there’s a lot of precip over France? Organised snow for for south/southeast maybe we’ll most favoured.

looks like the French system is further north than expected so an increased risk of small amounts of snow for southern counties

Haywards Heath Air temp in my back garden 0.0c (DP reading -3.3c) (garden weather station)

Tarmac road out front of house reading 1.3c  on the surface (read with laser thermometer)

grass in back garden reading 1.5c on surface (laser thermometer)

grass in back garden @ 1cm depth reading 3.3c (read using probe thermometer)

Interesting. Thanks Rob. Explains why it took snow so long to settle on roads and pavements here in Reading last night. Took about four hours of light-moderate snow to get a couple of cm on roads but about 8 to 10 on cars and grass.

I'd expect same today given roads and pavements have thawed rapidly but grass and car coverage remains solid.

Big flakes now, attempting to settle.

Developing into something much larger now. This certainly wasn't forecast.

Better be less wet, would be interesting if that feature also went further north.

Managed 4cm here in NW London, with more in the (small) drifts. Some melt on the pavements, bit still plenty on the grass. Hoping for a cm on existing cover from this emerging 'blob'. Will spring finally arrive? Not until Easter Monday if the GFS is in anyway correct

Huh, is it staying cold after Monday now?

It’s still coming down here, a couple of hours worth so far. Not laying apart from in snow already there and the car from the looks of it.

Tiny flakes now but fairly persistent. Unexpected but lovely to see!

Currently just under freezing with a DP of -5c

The 12z ARPEGE seems to model the incoming blob quite well. Shows it widening and intensifying slightly as it passes through Kent, and shows it hitting East London approx. 16:00 (now-ish). Fully departing West London approx. 22:00. Then continuing into Central-Southern Enland and SW England by around 03:00am. Widely 1-3cm of snow across the south expected from this.

First few little flakes falling in Bromley - better not be too wet but I’m losing hope of it settling

it will only settle on the surfaces that already have snow like grass, roofs and cars.

ground temps are too warm. Doesn't bother me that much as I need to go out in the car later!

I imagine that meant another cold snap at the end of the month but maybe not that spring like before then

Correct, remains around to just below average, with some suggestion of another cold snap over easter. No signs of any 'warmer weather' yet!
