I'm losing the will to live.  Once again, for those at the back. The main snow risk isn't until 4pm onwards. 4pm onwards. 4pm onwards. 4pm onwards. 4pm onwards. The colde

So the cold is almost at an end with a steady thaw expected over the coming days. As such the region will be one again. May I just say that the last week has been a real experience and I must tha

Some people need to grow up. If you want to bicker and snipe do it via PM. Because the rest of us don’t want to know.

About 5cm here after a day of almost non stop snow. This is top half of back garden, the wiggly snake is my young dog’s meander to find a suitable spot for a wee. I’m off to bed after lamp post duty all evening instead of taking the chilled out option...

Still coming down quite moderately in Hailsham.

Shame other non grass surfaces aren’t as cold as my garden table!

    Goodnight

What makes me laugh is I watched a BBC forecast just 30mins ago repeating the amber warning for the SE.

Frustratingly I said in the model discussion thread yesterday that I expected the far SE to only see light snowfall and sadly some member decided to get into a petty argument. None of the models that I looked at supported the idea of an amber warning.

Some snow is settling, most isn’t and is just turning to rain when it hits the ground.

They did HIRLAM showed 10-15cm particularly to the south of London fitting with amber pretty much through entirety of London and SE a bit off. :p

I think I must be lucky I’m sitting under one of those fingers. Just stuck my head out the door, snowing harder than it has all day but not laying.

Thought you might be under the one east of us. It ought to start lying. The finger over us is getting heavier north of us [and now near us] and still expanding east and westwards. Could merge with yours soon. Could be an interesting night after all..

You watch that will probably be wrong now. Hirlam has done so well, but watch it bust and not give us a thing!

If it comes off probably a quick 2-3cms, it moves through quite quickly unfortunately.

Light snow here now though that is thick enough to give a covering so Hirlam good

Hi teits your knowledge is much appreciated in this forum, I remember quite a few years back in the model forum you  corrected them where the snow was going to hit and you got back lash for it. You were spot on and it hit our area like you predicted. We less informative posters need more knowledgable posters like yourself in this forum.

    And that's the point!

The Met warning said nothing about direction or specific timing, and it was as much about ice as it was snow, but everyone latched on to their own imby situation.

Sorry, but if you take any forecast literally, you are going to eventually end up with a fall!

    * Sorry, Lampostwatcher, that was a generic rant and not aimed at you.

Not really no! It's way over exaggerated! You're barely in the amber anyway

Nope I meant 5cm or 2 inches in old money. I went out and checked the amount on the back lawn.  It would have been a lot more if only the flakes had been larger than a pin head....

It's been snowing on and off all day here (Kingston) giving the grass etc a powdering, however it's much heavier now and the road surface is starting to cover over which is good!
