Oi oi what's going on here then??!!! I said goodbye to the beast and looked forward for Spring and now everyone I see is saying SNOW!!! Well as much as I wanted the warmth of Spring, if the alternative is this grey/wet/chilly weather then I'll take the snow again to inject a bit of fun !!!! That is, until there is a sudden drastic change to very warm Spring weather..... in my perfect weather dream!!! In 2008 we had snow in early April and the following month was baking hot, I was heavily pregnant so remember it well, Lol!!xx

Not to worry, WG - all is not lost:

I can recall a Saturday in March 1973 that had blizzard conditions and a ferocious ENE wind...By the following Monday temps were up to 15C and the next week saw 20C and near-continuous sunshine...

It doesn't always take a great deal of synoptic variation to drastically change the weather, especially when HP is around.:D

Very interesting MetO warnings, I’m guessing that the double SSW is the culprit? Doesn’t look like lasting longer than a maximum of 3-4 days but will be a bit of a shock after the mild, wet and often grotty conditions since the previous cold spell. Hopefully some warm sunshine to end the month!

Alright. I'm back. I thought I wouldn't post until heat and/or thunderstorms... :)

Let's squeeze a bit of snow in this weekend. Good chance for the whole family to enjoy it and without causing traffic chaos. As long as it's gone by Tue evening I say bring it on!

The latest ICON run is absolutely mental, almost criminal.

what's criminal is that it only lasts 4 days instead of until the end of April:angry:

Due to the very strong SSW influence, there will be further cold outbreaks at times during March & April across Western/Central Europe including UK/Ireland.

it seems the build up is much shorter this time - we had about a week of cooler weather frosts at the end of Feb before we got the business end of the beast - now the met office cold warning is from Friday morning and its still relatively mild now when will we see the big drop in temp ? is it being driven by a dynamic cold front..?

Hi, goat, what's 2 + 2?

I dunno.

Yeah, you're thick enough.

two plus two is four

minus one that's three, quick maths

To try keep the peace, stay out of the model thread the usual North South split has begun and people calling snow fall at 4-5-6 days out as if they are some kind of geine...

I re-call the last easterly not having just 1 suprise event but about 3-4.

So as I usually say and ramble on about each time something like this crops up, stay in here, listen to the knowledgeable posters and await the T24 and T12 charts which are still about 72-100 hours away if not more for the first snow potential
