Just been for a walk with the dog. No melt in the garden or the surrounding fields - still got a level 4 inches. Still below freezing and feeling bitterly cold in the wind.

Looking back at the radar returns of 1st and 2nd December 2010, when 1ft [30cm] of snow was dumped on the south. A trough came up from France into the south east, turned into a low and expanded and stalled. First pic: 9.30pm on 1/12. Second on 00:30 on 2/12. Third at 02:00 on 2/12. Fourth pic the predicted synoptics for 18:00 on 1/12.

Actually feels colder today than at anytime since this cold spell started! Despite nudging +2c on the garden thermometer (South facing)

Get in that increasing NE wind today and it cuts you to the core

Still, some life outside doesn't have the option of a ski jacket today

Be interesting to see how high the temperatures get, depending on whether we retain cloud cover or not, if we retain the cloud temps perhaps not reaching the 4C predicted, breaks appear to allow sunny spells then it will. Still a lot of cloud across the south of the region, clearer skies for northern E Anglia and over the North Sea. Temps under the cloud still not much above 0C

Agree is does feel perishing in the brisk northeasterly wind. Snow not really melting here in south London, rather sumblimation/evaporation in the dry wind making it shrink.

Very cold today, the temperature reached 0C earlier here but has now dropped to -1C, remarkable. Snow is very slowly sublimating, loads of ice everywhere, quite dangerous. Some sunshine trying to poke through the clouds.

Here's hoping for multiple polar lows or troughs over Easter. Possible. Happened at that time of year in 1975. Several inches of snow fell in the south/south east.

I'm amazed at static temperatures for this late date.

It's been 0.5c here in Tonbridge since 6am this morning.

Feels bitterly cold in the wind.

Pockets of -10c 850's over SE at the moment!

I can definitely concur that the wind was absolutely biting this morning, so much so I decided against the dog walk in Nonsuch Park which is rather exposed and went to Horton instead for a bit of tree cover. Plenty of snow lying in the fields and woodlands, in fact I enjoyed de-snowing the car then driving around to enjoy the wintry scenery. The car stayed resolutely at 1 degree. The dog, being 4, has only really been exposed to snow for the first time these past few weeks; he is not a fan, but soldiered on with his ball anyway.
