Is it possible to assume that the suggestions of the models further up the discussion are suggesting a development along the south coast later.

As an small area of snow is now running into the SE which hasn't been forecast. Could this be a correction further north than expected for those developments later?

Probably a little snow this evening but I suspect probably a dusting for most, not too strong looking and pretty small coverage and quick moving. 1-2hrs of light-mod snow it seems at the moment IF it does make it. Far from certain.

It will be a nice bonus but I'd not expect much at all. Expectations need to be low IMO

It will make it, already got a slight dusting from a light front runner.

Latest radar shows a few very light showers developing around the Thames estuary/Essex coast area.

Not likely to be anything but maybe a few flakes of snow possible.

Yep. Have flakes falling here in Southend.

Saw two foxes earlier on wandering the woods behind our house - they came down into the adjacent garden for a bit. Looked like they were loving the snow - one was climbing through the bushes and getting covered in it ?

Is this good weather for foxes? Shouldn’t they be asleep?

I've noticed round here that i have 6mm of snow on cars, bins etc. but the snow on the grass and paths etc has melted away.

I have a probe in the soil in the back garden 1cm deep and it's reading 3.4c, the air temp 10 feet above that probe is 0.0c, so i guess the warmth last week from the sun is still in the ground, my drive hasnt been gritted but is bone dry with zero snow, yet the cars have it on them

What’s it like up around Cambridge? Daughter has Vaulting later so driving up from Hertford, it’s clear here yet again, looks like the sledges are not getting used for another winter

The precip heading nw across the continent this morning has certainly fragmented somewhat but will be interesting to see what happens to it over the sea.  Kent and Sussex in line although the area further east has still to set on its westerly track

It snowed last night, for quite a few hours, but overnight thawing and/or sublimation even robbed us of another snow-day...Roll on December!:D

I'm not worried, it's an area of instability, let's see what it does. There already light showers in front of it.

Yes I agree. Haven't seen any trace of it in any of the met office forecasts.

That has looked the case since middle of the week once the models started to take the cold pool further north. It actually  hit the sw/s Wales on it’s track ne/sw and this morning Devon and Cornwall have the proper low and fronts edging in there. The se was relying on more local factors to play ball and as others have noted, they didn’t, especially with the upper warm front (not the first time this winter that one of those has scuppered a big fall)

was a better snow event than i expected yesterday.  ended up with over 5cm of lyng snow which hasnt thawed so far today either.  very icy too.  its just a shame that the two recent events were so windy  as it would have been nice to have seen softly falling snow rather than sideways snow.lol.  oh well better to have any snow than no snow so i'm very happy with the way this winter has turned out after all.
