Ummm, the 'stuff' coming up from the south, where is that actually going??

I'm sure it'll be swept away, but I'm clinging on to things now!

Why have they kept showing heavy snow for this area all day I wonder and what looked like a streamer on the graphics, its been mainly flurries, some heavier ones, but just flurries. Maybe its just the computer running the show at the Met Office and they all went out for Paddy's Day.:blink2:

Bejesus really?

In Hemel Hempstead where it has snowed all day......albeit mostly quite lightly.....the past two hours have finally seen the snow settling on the roads. Probably about 3cm off the roads but starting to blow around. Still snowing moderately. Could present some rural travel problems overnight and tomorrow morning. I am on the NW side of town at nearly 500ft. It will certainly be more difficult on the roads as you gain the extra height into the main part of the Chilterns, Looks like our planned litter pick at 10am tomorrow in Gadebridge Park will be off.......not able to see it!!!

Probably heaviest snow of the evening in Hailsham and the winds really picked up.

Just to remind everybody it’s March 17th. To even have powered snow falling is remarkable.

Where it’s settled here I’d say it’s about 3-4cms. It’s not really managed to cover roads or pavements. Snow has fallen steadily much of the day.

I know we all hoped for more and are still chasing a 2009 or 2010 but I’d rather we got that earlier in winter than now. Sure, 30cms of snow is awesome whenever but much better when it stands a chance of sticking around longer than 24hrs.

Final thought is this is such a lovely regional group. Let’s not spoil it by bickering. Far more important things in life.

Have lovely evenings all

Those on the southern half of East Sussex, West Sussex, and Hampshire don't look NE. Look South for backbuilding from the southern band in the next few hours. That is where any snow is going to come from.

Good to see that this is now occurring. It is the early hours of Sunday that I suspect we will see max precip

Is this now, dare I say it, a win for the BBC forecast??

If you could actually tell what the hell their graphics were telling you, of course!

I still have very light falling snow, which takes it to about 8 hours continuous, but some experienced input would be appreciated.

Not really. I wish!

I imagine it will start to pivot west as it moves north.

It's gone, unsurprisingly, quiet in here, but I think this evening may throw up a few surprises yet!

disclaimer Please don't hold me to that :)

I'm about as far from an expert as you could get, but using the Netweather radar settings, the wind vectors are still in our favour.

I really want someone to tell me otherwise, otherwise I'll never learn! :fool:

So what was the amber warning based on, exactly, if it wasn’t a streamer set-up?

They thought it might have been so put up the warning just in case....then they all went up the pub!:drunk-emoji:
