Well, I can't talk for anyone else, but what is sliding SW towards mby (SE12) is quite welcome.

Just a word on the amber alert - it says, Snow showers are expected to become more frequent through Saturday evening and night, plus icy patches also developing on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

It's a warning of what could develop, not what will suddenly happen from 4pm. And it is developing. I know we all want blizzards dumping 20cm but there is still 14 hours left of this warning!

Temp at Watford, now -1.4C - humidity 84% - bar steady - we had continuous light snow which did not add up to more than a cm, the roads and pavements remained dry but now it has started to perk up a little more and starting to lie on the pavement: 

Radar looks interesting for the few hours - the circle indicates the position of Watford and the bar chart on left indicate ppn per hour - I'd say an average of 35mm, adding up to 70mm for rain for the next 2 hours - but with dryish snow, which this should be with sub zero temp, you could multiply that by 10, we get 7cm but we will see:

The best winter for cold and snow in 6 years ,and yes its March but in my lifetime I've seen more snow in his month than in December ,I've seen more snow at easter than christmas,just because the calendar says spring it doesn't always happen in our part of the world ,this year winter is extended by another month, unlike the previous 4 where spring started in January, so yes we have to get on with it

Absolutely ! I’m not seeing a Thames streamer setting up as yet but a more organised band east anglia, three Counties & north London.

I hope so but I am slightly less obessed about it this time - I don’t have a flight to catch and was looking for a dramatic story to tell because of the BFTE Mark 1 and Storm Emma ? (which I guess I got!). Would love to see some snow on the ground for my birthday tomorrow!

A dusting on cars and benches, even the pavements aren't fully wet it's patchy and still dry in places.

Certainly need an increase in intensity

Snowed all day here but very light and didn't stick to paths or roads.

However since darkness it's got much heavier and now everywhere is covered

Snow still light here.  Looks like the interesting stuff is to the north and east of me BUT the night is still young!

Let's review a bit later but I can't see this being a Feb 2009 redux to be honest.

New member here. It's been snowing steadily here all afternoon, and the wind chill has been bitter, icicles have been hanging of the opposite roof since lunchtime. Just been out to the shop, snow is steady and sticking. This evening, reminds me of Feb '09, By 11pm, we were half shin deep.

Met Office now showing that the best is still to come for the warning area in particular, PPN should not be moving any further north and from 20.00 heavier showers/streamer kick in.
