Moderate snow for the last two hours but none of it sticking. I'm 250 foot above sea level,so it's a bit disappointing.

This apparent streamer is puzzling me.

There seems to be a cloud sheet associated with the frontal band so not sure how convection kicks in.

You can clearly see on the satellite pic the proper convection taking place much further to the ne.

Perhaps the UKMO are expecting the cloud to break up but I’m not currently convinced about this streamer .

For those concerned, compared the 06z EURO4's expected snow accumulation for 17:00 today (this includes sleet too, and is mm water equivalent rather than pure cm) vs how much in total may have accumulated by tomorrow afternoon.

You have to take into account any melting that has already, so its possible it is over-estimating totals in some places right now

Pretty close to where the latest UKV sets up an intense band of snow around 9-10pm tonight.

Patience everyone, this is a constantly evolving set-up for sure!

Its not a thames streamer - Frontal wave alligned down the thames just like 2009 ( although that did start as a streamed )

Rem 2009 it stalles then kicked North bringing milder air in & melting our 30cm

So we have swapped out the idea of snow showers with more organized snow but not as intense coming of the north sea?

That would be me ? , I will say tho that when I parked up it was a very tight squeeze and I left it like that so it was easier to get out if we did have snow , luckily my neighbours have moved their car . IMBY. Think I’m a very good driver , never in the 30 years I have been driving have I ever had a accident or knock or bang or speeding ticket etc ??

Ha ha.. Do you know your difference between left and right? ;)

Now getting more moderate here in Shotley suffolk, sky suddenly looks more threatening than it has here all afternoon

Any snow here will move towards essex then london area:D

Yes the heavier stuff is just east of London on the Radar near Tilbury, this should start moving west now. Good luck all!:yahoo:

sky very overcast still, seems quite windy still, quite chilly, very tiny flakes blowing on the breeze every half an hour.

Same here. I'm sure I can see snow in the sky - it just ain't reaching the ground!:cray:

-1.8c, coming down with much bigger flakes, could be the start of the intense fall rates
