DP’s really taking a tumble now and wind howling and on it’s way to a more ENE tilt at this end of the Estuary. Roads/Pavements drying rapidly. Lovely jubbly

Bit hard to justify winter being anything other than the coldest three months of the year on average.

Good to see snow falling lightly without any radar returns on show. I'm taking that as a positive for later. Temp in H.bay gradually dropping close  to freezing now.

At Watford snow started approx. 0500 to 0600 hours, mostly wet but temps gradually dropping, now +0.1*, so just about freezing depending on accuracy of thermometer but the wind and wet ground is likely to cool the ground below freezing now - not bad considering we were in double figures yesterday. For the last couple of hours snow been fairly light, though there were heavier spells earlier but still patchy where it has melted on warmer patches off ground - where it has settle about 1cm in depth. 

Wondering if the freezing temperatures will affect the cherry blossom on our tree which started blooming about a week ago.

During the course of writing this temp now at zero, humidity 81% and during the last 8 hours the bar, which had been rising, is now steady.

I take it the chances of settling snow are over now unless temps go below freezing?

(is just above freezing in Worthing pier)

Oh well, the models had the streamer/PPN moving in by 12pm/1pm, but its not, we remain in the gap!:angry:

They are all miles out....guess we have to wait until 2/3pm after all then...

I had the same discussion with a very old gentleman at work. He said that he has noted the shifting of the seasons. Not sure how much evidence backs it up but he said that it used to be the September used to get quiet chilly but spring would arrive early march.

Nowadays we have a very warm september/october but get a colder march/april.

Considering how warm it is was yesterday I'm not surprised it's not settling, ideally we could have done with a few days of surface cold.

Least we've seen falling snow though, tbh it annoys me more seeing falling snow and it not laying than no snow at all ?

Well it would certainly make a change to get a cold and snowy spell in mid winter, when was that last severe spell of weather in January for us down here? Must be in the 90's.:cc_confused:

Hey guys!  :D

The weather must know its the 5th Anniversary of March 2013! :laugh:

Started snowing moderately in Central London around 8am in the morning, though nothing settled and left everything wet - was too warm. :sorry:

Just walked up the high street and it got even colder with the windchill very biting cold and small snow flakes falling. :cold::cold:

Looks good after 4pm overnight for our region, so keep the faith guys! :):good:

That’s what the met office warnings suggests, it all happening later this afternoon. Watching the band of snow to the north fizzle out over the last couple of hours, and not seeing much more in the North Sea has me wondering where this snow will come from? All precipitation to our north and east seem to be evaporating. I really hope I’m missing something here.

January 2010? Huge amounts of snowfall for many parts of southern England. 

Would also add Jan 2013

We have had warm Marchs and April’s in recent years, not to mention very mild Februarys when the daffs have been out. All part of the natural variation of our climate.
