Really good radar returns between Reading and Chertsey at the moment, probably some good settling snow there!

Tonight still could go any which way, probably 5-10cms is a good middle ground, but still significant risk IMO of alot more, especially if a streamer really kicks in later.

I’m under that blob. It’s only settling on the grass, cars etc. The pavements and roads are very wet.

Not in the way it is currently presenting, but it does have an area of higher precip near the Essex coast for late morning-early afternoon.

Wind is pretty strong here at the moment, making the light snow I have blow every which way!

Front seems to be sinking through a bit faster than the high res models predicted and then we need to work out what is going on to our east. Anyone in n Suffolk/s Norfolk able to report??

I'm nr Danbury , between Maldon and Chelmsford. V strong winds , fairly big flakes, I anticipate #bigblob to reach me within the hour.

I don't believe that blob Iam under it and if anything it's lighter snow than has been...I think radar for snow is not good as the radar just picks up  blowing snow in the  air

Snow started as grainy flakes at 7am,now beautiful 'goose flakes' heavy too and sticking everywhere but on roads and pavements.

Yes sj, can report the same from next door to you, in SE12. Most heavy it's been, so far.

Regards,

Tom.

I'm under the blob, Essex Suffolk border 10 miles from the coast. Don't get excited, light snow blowing in the wind. NOT a disaster zone.

Well the blob is approaching me near to Halstead (north Essex) so I should be able to report how heavy it is. Currently light to moderate but I’m not under the green bit yet.

Have to say that blob on the radar does look very suspect to me. 14 years of radar watching gives you a gut feeling with these things, and the blob isn't really behaving in a way that makes me think its real. Not to say there isn't snow there, but just not looking like that.

Snow trying to settle at time on roads and pavements then melts again, surface needs to cool a little bit, although pavement is starting to look white in places.

Unlike the last Beast, the snow today has more water content, so is sticking nicely to trees and fences, so certainly making for some photogenic tree covered in snow scenes this weekend. Still coming down moderately here in Croydon with about 1-2cm on the shed roof and in patches on grass, still not settling on roads, pavements or similar hard ground surfaces
