I totally agree with you. One minute they are looking ok and then they go into a different planet zone.

They have done far better in the past! Someone at the MetOffice has a sense of humour... ?

Just to note someone on TWO has posted a great link to a 1km WRF model, which is very high resolution. It shows some good looking streamer action (maybe that is what the UKV is seeing as well, hence the warning?)but this eventually becomes engulfed in an area of light-moderate snow which is on-off pretty much all day Sunday. Widespread 10cms, but with a local amountof 25cms near say Croydon. VERY interesting stuff, this kind of goes along with the HIRLAM as well fwiw...

I drove to Gloucester on Wednesday and there were still the remnants of snow drifts piled along the A417 on the high ground before getting down to Gloucester!

Saw that too last weekend, went to Gloucester. Remnants of snow up in the Cotswolds - nothing down in Gloucester itself though.

MetO forecast isn't as grim as expected, with only light snow on offer. Hope they're right :yahoo:

Models never pick up the intensity particularly well like last time.....

I think the amber was justified we shall see.

Looks like we are going to miss the more persistent snow Sun now, according to the Met.Going to hit more central S and SW England.Just like last time,if you can believe it AGAIN

Hoping we get something from the convective showers, unlike like last time,or it’s two misses in a row :wallbash:

It looks awesome

The only thing I would caution is that it looks as though it was initialised from Thursday 18z GFS, so it may be a little out of date by now

You honestly would not believe that by tomorrow temperatures would be struggling to get above freezing. An absolutely gorgeous afternoon with lots of sunshine and barely a breath of wind. Up to a mild 14C here.

Looking at the models, snow wise it be over as soon as Saturday lunchtime up here and be left with the worst possible scenario of being stuck under residual cloud from the frontal band which stalls over southern England. Too far south for showers and too far north for the persistent snow.

It does look like more ppn convergence will be amplified form the french/Belgium border during Sunday afternoon covering the SE :D

We should get some frontal snow as it develops overhead, most models are showing this now, of course the amounts are still very variable for our neck of the woods. The 12z 7km ICON for example giving about 4-8cms for most, through both a short streamer set-up and thena more general area of snow.

I remember the models didn't do that well in Dec 10 with a similar set-up and were too slow in forming the LP. Maybe worth keeping an eye on that again...

ps, 12z GFS is picking up on the streamer now, around 12-1pm should be kick off time, note could see alot of melting to start with though.

Loving the GFS 12z, more PPN for us, also the snow coming up from France is further east. So thats bingo, full house, thank you very much indeed global forecasting sausage:D

It’s so warm on the walk back from work. Some lovely big clouds around. Really does feel like spring. It’s hard to get my head around what’s going to happen tomorrow. It’s almost a temp drop like they get in the USA

i thought the same about the temperature although very overcast again here now and a bit chillier than earlier also seems to be quite thick fog setting in.

And i am getting very confused about golden syrup and treacle.
