I'll have to clear a good half of the sheep pens (having just done the pre-lambing clean two weeks ago). On the plus side I've found the business end of the snow shovel :wallbash:

First proper cold spell since I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Watching the world outside my window turn white was fun for a few days but I've never been happier to hear the sound of dripping in the garden. I'll probably get the sun-lounger out when we hit 9oC on Tuesday.

Drip drip drip.  Thaw is well underway and accelerating now the sun is coming out!  Sad to see it go but has been a great week.

Just come back from a walk in Farnham Park (Surrey). Beautiful pristine snowy walk with very little, if any, melt. Temperature 1C and the sun poking through the mist made for a magical scene. We should retain the snow for today but the thaw is sadly on the way.

What surprised me is how quickly the cold got moved. It got moved by one system from the Atlantic that didn’t even have the jet behind it powering it through.

Snow nearly gone here and the sun is breaking through the clouds. Feels positively tropical at 3C. Remarkable week of weather that has been both enjoyable and frustrating, am glad it’s over though. But for how long......?

WOW it must be so dangerous outside, just went to the front door and put my bare foot on the snow just by the door, immediately it was compacted like that, it became ice! So glad i can stay in today, just put some shredded wheat in milk in the oven to make it warm.Delicious.

Yes. Looks likely that March won’t be Spring-like, might have to wait until April?! As long as we get plenty of sunshine and not too much in the way of grey skies and rain, I’ll be happy enough.

It's been a fantastic end to winter and last nights snowfall was a welcome surprise, the Beast's 'encore' if you will.  I would say that whilst 1987 is still the gold standard of winter events, this spell stands alongside 2010, 2009, 1996 and 1991 for my money.  But it's only the 3rd March and I have a feeling that this place could get busy again in about 10 days time as winter may not have quite finished with us just yet.

What an amazing week for the U.K. St. Athan, near Cardiff, recorded 55cm of level snow, so flooding will now be an issue there.

I loved seeing the snow, but now the thaw is setting in, I’d rather it was rapid as I hate slush!

Sadly rain is on its way later today.

Sun feels warm out there and it's a barmy 5 degrees lol...

Morning, What a week it's been. Temp is now a slightly milder 2.7C

Just to think we are now steering towards a mini ice age as the sunspots on the sun get less & less! I strongly believe our winters will now be very extreme for a few years.

That's plain ol' rain, maybe a bit of sleet.

The thaw started in the early hours here - you could see and feel the snow on the ground had started to turn wet.

A lot of dripping going on, but there's still quite a bit of snow lying around.

I'm hoping we get a gradual thaw without it freezing over during the nights, especially on pavements and roads..

I know you put the R into Ramp lol but I agree with you and this winter was the turning point, not because we had a cold spell, but because from now on, we will really start feeling the affects of low solar activity.
