Yep, I'm just a few miles from you and it's really getting going now.  Could get another couple of cm's out of this. Brilliant spell

It has been quite a week, people have been friendlier, I got to take my camera out for non-work pictures (rarely happens these days),  I've gained a few pounds because unfortunately I can't get to the gym and I absolutely had to eat warming food and drink wine..
All worth it!
Back to staring out the window and these lovely fat flakes.

 still sowing here

Are you.

I doubt they will get very far in these conditions  as it will be too cold for them to grow.

Kind Regards

Dave

Just very light snow at the moment . Heavy stuff just to the south.Forcast did say it will be a slow moving front.

Well the Beast is having his last cold drink and is now packing his bags after having  a good  Mid Week Break..

Think we will get the Pest From The West next....RAIN

Snow amounts really building up here, 2 inches easily on top of existing cover if not more from 3pm and still snowing heavily

winter wonderland in Ampthill

Moderate snow has arrived. Or at least moderately light or lightly moderate? Let the drifting commence!

Is this front due to stall? I supposed to

be under this snowfall until 1am ish tonight but I can’t see it lasting that long!.

Weve has fairly heavy tiny snow now for the last hour or so! Wouldn’t mind some slightly bigger flakes to see this spell off with a bang but I won’t complain

Small flakes but good intensity here to the west of Peterborough, another thin but nice covering.

Have been feeding the birds every morning this week and have just counted 22 blackbirds out there at once, must be a record. Well for here anyways.

Finally tapering off here after three hours of moderate / heavy snow. What a cold spell this has been. It's had everything - drifting snow in central London (first time I've seen that in my lifetime, and I'm 33), record low temperatures, nationwide snowfall, easterly gales and a good old-fashioned blizzard in the west and south-west.

After five days of falling and settling snow we have a final total of 8cms in north-west London, with drifts of 15cms. I'd rank this above January 2010 and December 2010, purely for its depth of cold and longevity. Not quite as good as the 2009 Thames streamer, which remains the benchmark.

I'm sure some will disagree, but I think the beast of 2018 delivered. And then some.

Easily the most snow from this spell. The roads are pretty bad.

Luckily for me I only live a 5 minute drive from work, so it only took me 20 minutes to get home....5 of those were stuck at the bottom of a slope wheelspinning with a bus behind me :sorry::rofl:

It may be where the pipe drains outside has frozen. Pour some hot water over it from the kettle.

That happened to us in 1981, 82 and 87...ended up just waiting for things to thaw-out naturally...

Fierce drifting going on down here.
