This is reminding of Match 2013 at the mo where it was never quite cold enough and the snow never quite heavy enough to settle to any great degree. I know some areas did well but it was pants here.

Hoping for things to pick up later.

Guess I've been super lucky, that nice big cell has passed right overhead, and we have jumbo sized snowflakes that are settling readily. :cold:

So I move from SW Essex which has been pretty poor in recent years for snow to Cambridgeshire and yep Essex gets the snow and amber warnings I'm in one of the few spots being missed.  Surprise, surprise, I swear I'm a mobile weather shield with just the occasional puncture. zzzzz.

Huzzah - absolutely chucking it down in Cambridge and we now have white grass. Huge, fluffy  flakes. I bet it's still dry at home in west Cambs, though.

Yep, as a bone.

Cambridge is making the surprise with everything turning white in the last 15 mins. Really good snowfall, should continue for the next 20-30 mins judging from the radar.

Have to say I'm not wildly optimistic reading the regional forecast on the met office site, despite the warnings. "Some accumulations possible" about as good as it gets for this afternoon and tomorrow. Wednesday is looking our best shot for something more substantial ATM.

Stopped again, melting. BBC forecast just now putting emphasis on the NE to get the persistent snow Tues/Wed (right over to the NW)  and hit and miss showers for the rest.  Looks like the end of the week will be our best bet for something substantial.

First Sunday night into Monday, then Monday night into Tuesday, now end of the week, when it's going to, probably, warm up.

Su is gone again and a few stray flakes are coming down, hopefully the top up for the few surfaces where it melted completely

Seems as if the sun is helping to beef the showers up over Norfolk into E Cambs. As reported, everything turning white in Cambridge due to a substantial shower. I think as diurnal heating recedes, that is when we will see the main flare up of offshore convection and possible streamers setting up. As the land cools, we should see a natural slope off of the winds (opposite to the sea breeze) creating a convergence zone offshore, I.e the streamer.

The view from my office window at work in Cambridge

Paths not settling as very well salted and gritted (with it being a school and all that), but starting to cover the grass etc

I wouldn't worry too much what the BBC say, just keep watching the radar and surprises will come. We've already had a fair few showers today, and the instability is becoming greater as the afternoon/evening goes on.
