I moved here from Snorbans a couple of years ago. Know only too wll the snow shield! But Luton did quite well back in Dec to be fair!

Snorbans?! How dare you. :D Rather live here than Luton. ?

Yeah, hopefully we can repeat that luck we had in December. For us it's just going to be a waiting game.

However, the rash of showers already visible on the radar does bode well for the next few days.

Nothing in Ipswich but can see it south from here. As usual this god damned place always misses the snow.......

It's annoying for our neck of the woods I know (St Albans here!) but showers are becoming more widespread as the day goes on and I wouldn't pin your hopes just on the warnings.

Plus, we are in the warnings tomorrow when showers will be affecting almost anywhere! :)

Yes we get a similar situation here where we're just a smidge too far North to catch the beefy train of shower activity they get just down the road along the estuary, although admittedly we can get glancing blows.

Still a lot of fun to be had over the next 48 hours.

Moisture feed to the Estaury has now cut off, but the feed going over North Norfolk is now curling down to take over the feed down to the Thames, this feed has had a much longer sea track, first showers just starting to head towards Ipswich.

There's some good looking showers in North Norfolk heading your way. I wouldn't despair too much just yet.

Yes I noticed that here. Perhaps the strength of the sun having a bearing? Think we could struggle to get a covering on the roads during the day as the showers aren't prolonged enough at the moment to compensate?

Anyway looks like I misjudged the speed of the approaching showers, as another heavy burst pushed in now. Bigger flakes than the first pulse. Came down sideways for a bit!

same here, if it wasn't melting everything between showers we'd already be at 5cm..

The increasing strength of the sun at this time of year is really making it difficult for the snow to stick around between showers.

But, as the day progresses and the showers become heavier and more prolonged, plus of course the sun going down that won't be an issue.

nothing here in braintree but the occasional flake in the wind.. getting a little disappointed.

It's early days. The snow isn't meant to get heavier until later this evening. It's actually been better so far this morning than forecast.

Surprising though as 2m temps and dew points should be sub zero across most parts?

Temps are below freezing so surprised to see the snow melting like this.

Yeah nothing wrong with the temps, it's just the suns rays, plus the snow being very powdery and blowing around. A good dump overnight will sort that out!

All the snow disappearance here seems to be from dryness and evaporation (sublimation) the snow is going but there is certainly no wet here.

Yes, by the sounds of things it's a step in the right direction.
