Kent, Home counties and south London general weather discussion 25/02/2018 onwards

Now the winds have veered NE, I'm not expecting much in my neck of the woods over night as from what I can make out, the showers will push more SE than where I am (Bexleyheath).  Certainly doesn't bode well for a Thames streamer tonight anyway.

So this is it, the end of winter. Time to look forward to Spring..... Wait, what's this?        Apparently not. So for the time being, we will remain as one for this cold spell. Ple

Just popped in to wish my southeast friends lots of snow, the radar looks very active so you should do well and that includes the coming days!..you deserve this

Having just watched Darren Beat at 5.30Pm he mentioned winds turning ESE on Wednesday with limited or no snow shower activity in the South East, nor on Thursday until overnight when snow will arrive from the South West.  Is this everyones take that the snow you get tomorrow will be your best chance if not its a case of waiting until the end of the week for your snow to arrive ?   Seems like there is a distinct lack of troughs away from the midlands northwards from the early hours of Wednesday ?  Happy to be corrected thou ;)

Shower activity seems to be dropping off north of the capital now (so not great for my location).

I expect it to be mainly dry here now with just some fleeting showers....the steering winds are not in our favour to the west.

Kent and Sussex is the place to be tonight.

Tomorrow may be better when the winds veer more easterly.

Edit:

The above is for my location in Berkshire and probably a fair assessment for tonight. As I mention, Kent and Sussex will do well later this evening.

New poster so go easy. Was definitely snowing heavily across the estuary near Tilbury a short while ago. Nothing Kent side at the moment near Cliffe. I think we will get something tonight but a little less optimistic looking at our forecasting products at work earlier. Fingers crossed though!

Hello! Welcome :)

If you can stick your location in your profile below your name that'd be fab. It helps to wok out what weather is happening where.

Completely and utterly agree.

People need to stop taking the apps so seriously, they're next to useless in showery situations because the GFS is next to useless in these situations. But alas, we're in that age where an app on a phone showing something must be fact.

remember guys its not the fact that the PPN isnt really there to the North of the region its the issue that it cannot maintain intensity over land- however a good shot of convergence will cure that-
