Wow, this thread has gone down hill and miserable..... more depressing than a week of wet and windy 'guaranteed' weather which i'm pretty confident you will be happy with next week.

I'm off..

welcome to reality.... no point in living in make believe land is there?!

Right. Work done, I can now sit at home and watch the radar.

Quite a few heavy snow showers whilst driving around today, heaviest was 8/10 on the Murr scale. Everything settled but mostly melted once the sun came back out, looking good for our region tonight!

Yeah, that's what I meant in reply to throwoff about once this sun drops, them snow showers coming in will fall and settle fairly quickly, personally If I had to travel after say about 5, I'd be leaving pretty soon to get home.....probably because 2010 was a nightmare for me.

Wow what is up with this negativity in here and more importantly how can there be people who say we have't got the snow that was forecast? Nothing until yesterday afternoon was ever forecast for today. And what we have had so far is exactly what the MetO put in their updated forecast and warning yesterday.

Are people not reading what the latest forecast says for tonight? What else can you ask for other than "prolonged, heave snow with significant accumulations" while it is -4 degrees or less outside?

I give up.

As for the weekend and beyond. I'm looking forward to potentially heavy snow on Thu night/Friday morning with a chance of freezing rain which is extremely rare in the UK. After that it's time for spring.

Southeastern are advising people not to travel after 6pm.

Though they're delayed by someone dropping a donut so I don't hold much hope for them anyway.

cold spell ends in the SE Friday according to met office afternoon update

let's hope everyone sees some decent snowfall this week  and the low pressure coming up Thursday stalls and we end up with a mega blizzard to finish of a remarkable end to an average winter .fingers crossed

Hi! School is finally over, we had some light-moderate snow showers all day, can’t wait for some lamp post watching tonight! It’s really powdery too, and drifts easily in the wind.

well for me it's having a snow drought for past 5 years, then about 50 miles away heavy snow, yet nothing for us, and the kids are off school today as it's teacher training day.
