I will add, that both UKV and GFS shifted this a good 50-75 miles east today. So who's to say it could be even further east?

This snow is amazing though, so powdery!

Who knows, has to be said the HIRLAM has really nailed this set-up, also I seem to remember the GEM also toyed with this solution at times. ECM probably the closest global model, but it really wasn't that close for this afternoon overall.

So is this the general consensus now? If so is that likey to hit thanet overnight? I do hope so

Oh my days that stuff over France is heading out way and it loads ka very intense.

we have to watch this carefully we might be in for a big dumping in a couple of hours if that radar is correct some intense heavy stuff.

I have watched that over the past two hours it has grown maybe it will take the forecasters for surprise.

Fingers crossed may be wrong but that's how I see it.

Can I ask a question, tell me of if I’m way of the mark but aid Emma more advanced than previously thought. From the radar it looks like a lot of wet stuff is banging on my door in Rye. Is this possible or is something else going on. Sort of it’s been asked and discussed already I’ve been a hermit today feeling poorly

Thanet -0.2c

I've occasionally visited this thread since the split from us north of the river..

It's reassuring to know that the sun is indeed going down tonight

guys

Count yourselves lucky in surrey- models (12z) initialised about 50-75 miles further East which in the grand scheme of things is nothing- but relative to the PPN belt is a whole county-

Shown here 1am tonight 12z first

Thanks from a Surrey lass! So is it stalling over us against the cold air or still heading N/NW eventually but slowly?!x

I think the front is real and will probably make landfall in Kent between 8 to 9pm, you can just make it out on the satellite as well, as to how much ppn there will be on it is another matter, definitely showing on Buienradar +3 hours

https://www.buienradar.nl/wereldwijd/europa/buienradar/3uurs

Don't even think that late!

Look at the latest two radar grabs:

At this rate the snow won't have left the area. However given everything has been running ahead of time, there certainly seems to be some logic behind it!

Looks like the good stuff missing me to the west. A few flakes in the air but that's all at the moment. The wind is really vicious though, definitely feels like the coldest day this week

That stuff over the channel is now starting to turn more northwesterly, real or not.

It's unlikely to hit us, there'll be a more sudden shift of the energy north west in the next few hours.

Tantalizingly close, but noticing its starting to move north westward, hope the trend doesn't continue as it looks intense on radar

Just back from a long walk [with the dog], 10-ish miles north-ish of Worthing, half of it against a strong, snow-flecked wind, in sub zero temps. Streams are frozen, cracked. The ground, once muddy, is chilled to earthy bone – solid.  Flakes are the real thing; none of the wet stuff.  No rain; not even the frozen variety. No mizzle. In a wood, wild deer shelter behind banks of brambles. Snow drifts down, whitening the ground.  The sky is grey, leaden, preparing, perhaps, to unload something. The wind is picking up, whirling falling snow as it becomes heavier. Now to drink an "Old Crafty Hen, Oak Aged Vintage". 6.5%.

Does the positioning of this front determine the temperatures going into the weekend and next week? I ask because on the METO forecast for my area had this evening as dry earlier and most of tomorrow too (and then just a few hours of snow tomorrow evening) with temps on Sat on 4c and then Sun 7C, Mon 7C; but then it changed to snow all evening and for most of the night & spells tomorrow too and the temperatures changed drastically - Sat at just 1c Sun at 2c& Mon at 3c! Now the snow has gone again for this evening & temps back up to 4c on Sat & 7C for Sun & Mon! Never known it to veer so widly!  :cc_confused::wallbash:

I think this’ll just miss us but looking good for tomorrow for a lot of us. Admittedly nothing like what the west of us tonight will get but still it’s snow ❄️?

In SE London, it's light but it's falling!

Lee, SE12, by the way

Hi Mark,

Yes, can confirm that here too, a few flakes fluttering down, on the wind.

We're, just off Burnt Ash Hill.

Recently spoke to my daughter, who was at Elmstead Woods station, on her way to north London, to watch her beloved Arsenal, play Man. City. Did warn her, it's a long way to go, to sit in the freezing cold for 2 hours, to watch your team get humiliated, for the second time, in 5 days!! :cold: I wish them well, though but I do fear for them.

Regards,

Tom.
