looking out of the window we have very light flakes drifting down, which seems to tie in with the radar showing us right on the edge of the precipitation.. It seems the M23 is the barrier this time rather than the infamous M4

Why are you in this thread?

Freezing Rain is a thing BTW.

I didn't say there was no such thing as freezing rain, just that there isn't any in 'our' region at the moment. I'm on this thread because I'm on the cusp of two regions and this one has a higher quality of poster. Like yourself.

This is agonisingly close. The whole system is scraping the western edge of Greater London, but isn't getting any further east at the moment.

There will be NO rain of any type, not with the upper conditions still the way they are, TRUST me on that one ;)

For now its all snow, may turn more marginal close to south coast tonight but thats a little way away still. Any 'freezing rain' IS 100% fine light snow grains. As Isaid earlier it can be very deceptive indeed, even I nearly got caught out with it earlier.

Heavy freezing rain in godalming. Been like this for hours

As in everything is ridiculously icy as the rain freezes on to everything? Seems unlikely at this juncture

If dewpoint and air temp and upper air temp are all below freezing than all ppn should be snow.

I don't think there is anywhere in our region that has any of these measures above 0c as yet.

I can tell you that when they add to -8, your chances of snow are well above 100%....

Actually it could rain if uppers were warm enough and sliding over a cold pool !

Watching French radar in interest. More showery stuff, seems to be coming more of our way!

Isn't the system going to be dragged NW once it reaches a certaint point? Very tough to tell the eastern extent of this right now... now casting only.

PPN on the far east of the system really growing as it leaves France and hits the channel.

Yeah. Certainly turning a lot darker here with some larger flakes coming down. Not enough to settle though

Hopefully the system isn't dragged north west before that gets to us, it seems the models predict the eastern side of the precipitation decaying pretty quickly
