Snow petering out near Maidstone now, but we've done well.  Official snow depth cup reading on roof of my car is 15 cm.

Areas of snow definitely appear to be moving more toward WSW rather than SW on recent radar scans, winds along North Sea coasts Ely while NEly further west inland, could see snow across parts of SE London soon.

I’m still hanging onto hope for later in the week but TBH it was all a bit hyped up about areas in the Thames valley. I just drove around the Kent stretch of the M25 and I have to say MOST areas have missed out with significant snow only falling in the extremities of the SE.

Yep there’s lying snow but now i’m Back in N London there is zip. The was also zip back in the Surrey hills.

I can totally understand the difficulty in forecasting tho. Seems to me we do hype things up a LOT in the UK. That goes for summertime storms. We are very quick to use words like ‘historic’ and ‘severe’, and I guess that’s what bothers people in the aftermath when they usually get little or nothing.

But as I say it’s still ‘early days’ (at least for another 12 hours 😉)...

Am I right in thinking that maybe Greenhithe/Gravesend area was the furthest West along the Thames to have a little covering. I stayed and watched our fall at 2.15-3am last night. Can' believe how just a few miles south and east of here there's like quadruple the amount of snow😲 My family in Dartford are now moaning at me they have no snow. Was it due to the wind direction being more conducive to a Kent clipper I assume?

I also woke (slightly gutted!) to nothing on the ground at Dartford Heath @John Michael How

Surprised to hear just how close it appeared to have hit. Still, glad to see that so many others were fortunate enough in the region.

Fingers crossed for the coming hours/days!

Really hoping we can backbuild or the north sea will start producing some more convection.

Would be gutting for some if now the winds are more ENE but theres nothing to fall from the sky.

Magical moment - you can no longer tell the division between the road & footpath!

Very heavy snow continuing. About 5cm now. Poor visibility.

Firstly a big thank you to all those have posted pictures of snow. They really are magical and even though i havent had any snow(literally about 1mm lol) i am so chuffed to see that Mid Kent,Sussex and parts of Essex have done well and continue to do well today.By COP today would expect some places to have 15cms in favoured spots which is awsome.

Tbf i think BBC forecast was broadly ok as it was stressed on many occasions that snow would be in form of showers where some would do great while 5 miles down the road might get nothing. Is this not what has happened?(Well from my experience that is exactly bang on sadly for me)

AS Tom Jarvis has stated those in SE London and NW Kent missed out purely on the small differential of a NE or ENE wind but this change is happening now and we should see a Westward movement of showers during the day and night. But one areas loss is anothers gain in these circumstances and am so pleased that Mid Kenters have been hit as they have had a snow drought for 4-5 years.

Good luck everyone today and even though i am a snow lover it is only the weather. There will be more chances if not this winter then winter 2018/19 when we start the solar minimum:good:

Edit> Just started snowing in Lo:Dcksbottom

Latest big shower blob on radar looks like tit will barely get within M25. No real change of direction seen if winds are moving to east
