French low is significantly further north and east than forecast.

Northern extend into Paris which is 4 hours early. Easy already into SW Germany and Switzerland.

No, my son is due to fly from there tomorrow morning. Would love for you to get some snow...but I also hope his flight isn't cancelled.

Streamers are funny things! It has been snowing in north Hamshire for a few hours - probably an extra couple of inches so far

ah fair enough.

We weren't scheduled to see any snow before 8am tomorrow. And I don't think we will see any snow tonight.

After 5 barren years it seems the unexpected Thames/M3/A303 streamer is giving us a covering of snow in North Hampshire and looks like there's more to come.

Radar very ‘busy’ tonight, just won’t stop. Hopefully a fresh layer of snow overnight here that measures more than a cm.

Be aware, most of the stuff in the south east ISN'T reaching the ground! There's barely a flake for the last 6 hours or so, yet the radar says yep light snow

Under a persistent band of snow here. Seems to pick up intensity over land

Yea, i think unless you're under something green on the radar, there's not a lot falling.

Anyone noticed this?

Roll back and forward through the radar grabs on NW...check out the on switch for the snow machine just north of Herne Bay

What in the actual is that?.....it's just rotating like a cog and feeding the showers.

Valid explanation I'm sure, such as dodgy radar etc, but it struck me.

Silly Southender; that's the "Snow Machine Of The North Sea!"

But seriously, I have no idea either. Perhaps an error on the radar? :cc_confused:

P.S. Salutations from North of the River.

This expanse of snow is really quite a surprise. As I said this morning, some high res models were showing a small streamer through the Thames valley, but nothing to this extent.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen high res models get it so wrong at such close range.

On another note, the precipitation over France certainly appears to be taking a more NE track, which should put more of us in the game tomorrow.

I've just checked the radar. Crumbs. Perhaps we may get some decent numbers after all from this spell!!

I know the radar isn't helping, as some of the snow isn't reaching the ground, but it's definitely getting more intense.

The lines of showers seem to be merging :)

Well I’m surprised how close to the north French coast it already is, so we may be seeing it sooner than modelled.

Many surprises to come tonight methinks.
