Unprecedented amounts of snow on the south coast of Ireland as we speak! Generally looks like over 50cm and drifts of over a metre! I should have booked a trip home to visit this week. Snow is extremely rare there, can't believe they are doing so well!

Hoping for at least something here in London by the end of today.

Unless the radar picks up soon, we're going to be left empty handed again, despite what the computer models have been saying.

For anyone who likes winter weather, and is thinking of moving, don't move to the Sussex coast, unless microscopic snow particles that dissipate instantly upon ground contact, or rain, are your thing.

Move to mid-Kent

When the beast from the East attacks (every 15-20 years!) we nearly always catch beefy snow showers from streamers off the North sea!

I'd just like to say, what a fantastic forum this is. So much up to date information, which the Met Office can't compete with. especially on a day like today and during the past week. As a lot of forecasts are recorded and played over and over again  and can't possibly keep pace, with an ever changing situation. I'm also surprised the M.O., havn't put out a stronger warning for freezing rain, in light of what's happening down in Kent!! :nonono:

Spoke to my younger sis. and gobsmacked to find out that the powers that be, have decided to open my little nieces', Primary school today, after being closed yesterday,  in Orpington. :nonono:For Pete's sake, for one day, vey short-sighted decision, in my book!! Perhaps pressure from parents, who want to get to work. :cc_confused:, Even so, crazy, with the continuing threat of freezing rain and perhaps. a little more snow, later.

Anyway, rant over!!

Hope you all get, a little more of the white stuff.

Regards,

Tom.:hi:

So dangerous outside.

Everything now covered in a 2mm layer of Ice.

People falling over , cars sliding around.

Wheres the Amber warning for this.

Far more of a problem then any snow we have had..

Temp outside. -2.7c

Looking ar the Radar i dont see any organised snow event happening.

Unless anyone knows otherwise ??

A band in the channel near the coast is building but will it give us much snow? One or 2 bands hardly did y'day. It is NOT the main band that is expected later this afternoon.

very granular snow / rain coming down in Hastings. Absolutely freezing and feels far colder than the -7 wind chill my Vantage Pro is telling me.

A much bigger band over northern France and its part of the channel is developing nicely.

The latest HIRLAM show the band today largely bunny hopping over us in the SE'ern corner. They've done pretty well on most of this so I would expect very little this afternoon for most of us.

West Sussex more likely to catch any decent fall, but let's see.

Just listening to the radio - the biggest UK snow depth recorded yesterday was 51cm in St Athan (happy St David's Day).

Aimee Fuller has just arrived back from Pyeongchang and took to the streets of London to do some impromptu slopestyle with the aid of some TRX gym bands to toe her in. Exciting times!

Temps seem to be dropping here, fingers X'ed the main band of precip is snow later  :)

Not sure what you're looking at but the latest (6Z) shows quite the opposite and is currently spot on. Heavier stuff incoming now to cover the SE in the next hour or so and then ongoing until after 6pm.

Bit confused by posts above. Is it building up nicely for us or missing the SE?

Looking better for mid-west sussex if it starts to move nW or NNW.  Or will expand eastwards...??
