We have freezing rain here but have also had quite a bit of melt overnight. Got my food supplies that I was running short on.

How to get to work - Walk, Cycle or Drive? Freezing rain has made this a crucial decision.

Main roads fine. It's side roads that were dodgy but drive sensibly and it's manageable. Not as icy as yesterday.

Uppers & dew points have risen considerably overnight.

So, we are more likely to see freezing rain/drizzle or sleet from now!

Much less cold from tomorrow.

Thanks, I've gotta head your way but might leave it a bit, fine balance between going now or waiting and potentially getting caught in the snow traffic!

we have freezing rain here in ramsgate, our garden furniture cover is covered in a thin layer of ice and when touched it breaks up into small pieces, amazing stuff.

I’m not very optimistic about any significant snow in our region today.

Most models show heavier snow developing to our north, with things remaining patchy here, so unless the wind drops, it’ll just keep blowing around.

There are then indications of slightly milder air moving north, which ties in with the latest Met Office thoughts of a thaw setting in by dawn tomorrow.

This cold snap was crap for me to start, but we ended up with a surprise snowfall, so I’m happy about that.

On to Spring now ?

Great spell of weather in Odiham (due south of you). 1" Tues, 3" Wed, 3" Thurs and hopefully more today. The main road out of Odiham (south to Alton) was blocked by a 6 foot drift this morning. 3 foot drifts elsewhere.

Filling in even more now..

Filling to the north though, which ties in with the models.

I hope I’m wrong, but feel most of the snow will develop just to our north :(

Rain starting here, likely freezing rain though will need to wait and see how it develops, heavier returns to the SE.

Exceptionally rare to see freezing rain, for most of us its likely a once in a generation type event.

Snow still possible later on as the uppers cool back down again past midday, but much depends onhow the front evolves, may already be lifting out from the far south of the region by that point.

Think you’re right, sadly. Anything developing to the S is likely to be freezing rain, not snow, unless colder uppers can move back down again. That is expected, so we will see.

Will this be disruptive snow this afternoon?

Many thnks,

In SE London, SE12, it has been an uneventful night. Outside looks exactly the same as it did at 10pm last night. No freezing rain, just a gusty wind

Though it has just got slightly darker outside and there is something falling out of the sky as it's leaving tiny wet specks on the window.
