Can we stop this now. There is no rain, freezing rain or sleet anywhere in the region. It is all snow.

Well the afternoon MetO video forecast mention snow "may extent into SE England" tonight and then has us under a decent amount tomorrow starting around 6am until around 3PM with a risk of freezing rain.

I suspect it was very fine powder snow grains, if its light enough it can look a little like rain, we had that here briefly around 2pm.

Temperatures aloft should still easily support snow even down to the coast, that will change though quite quickly this evening and we will probably see a transition back to 'wet snow'

Exactly. A couple of days ago we had stuff in Richmond which was very fine and light and looked like rain, and it also wasn't settling on roads which had been gritted/warmed by sun/churned up, and I thought about how in a more typical setup I would think this was sleet or rain.

On this occasion, uppers were about -12, temps were -3, dew points were about -10 and it was conclusively snow...

I'm glad to see PPN showing on the latest radar as far East as Rouen in France. Unlikely that these showers will survive to my location, but looking promising for those in the eastern parts of our region for later on.

extremely fine snow but lots of it and blowing about so much it looks like big clouds of smoke! (Farnham, Surrey)

amazing weather!

You've had what we had around 2pm, should very soon start to get heavier and deeper and with it should start to settle nicely again.

Probably added 1-2cms since 2pm, probably going to get another couple in the next hour as well.

Starting to make up for the rather weak effort thus far this week!

wrong. this morning about 9.30, i was driving down the dual carriageway and the car was still warming up, the snow turned to drizzle for about 10 mins and it froze to the windscreen instantly.

Finally some bigger flakes coming down, looking the NW radar, seems its only going to reach the ground when the colour is dark pink.

Fairly steady but very fine snow / snizzle - probably a 2 or 3 on the Murr Scale in reigate

Is this the start of the rain that has been mentioned a few times?

I'm wishing it just a little further east. I've got to say I thought I'd be in your position but luckily it has moved far enough east that i'm fairly comfortably into the snow zone for now.Best of luck!!

No. It’s still well below freezing here - the flakes are very tiny. There’s a small chance of freezing rain tomorrow I think but at the moment it’s all snow
