Where the deeper snow has laid all any melt will do is add to over night ice. Tomorrow will be horrific, people will see the new snow and try to drive on it without thinking of the sheer ice underneath.

We have snow falling here in Berkshire now giving a light covering on the grass.

It doesn't look like much more will fall though with a clearance moving in from the east now.

Why can we never get snowfall at night here :-(

What’s the consensus for this evening and in to tomorrow? The showers off the sea seem to have died a death. Are they due to pick up again, or is this it for now? It’s been an amazing 24 hours!

Honestly? Once the sun sets the temps will drop. Anything down will freeze, anything new will stick to it as soon as it drops. I’m not expecting to wake up to 6ft but we won’t lose much depth overnight and will likely add a couple of CM

Anyone know how Crowborough/Ashdown Forest is looking? Thinking of taking a drive there later.

Dutch radar +3 prediction (which has been quite accurate so far) reckons a large band of showers starting to come in around 5pm, about perfect time for it, just as it’s getting dark. Looks to be widespread over Kent.

BBC Southeast seemed to suggest a NW Kent streamer tonight veering eastwards - Thames streamer.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all. METO have nigh on had this bang on. They always had Medway down for this morning as the big fall and now are suggesting another heavy fall around midnight.

That's our best hope as I can't see much more moving in tonight, with shower activity fading now - unless the north sea can deliver, but I doubt we'll be lucky!

Friday's low is our best chance, as long as the bulk of the snow doesn't stay out west.

Wouldn't that be a joke for us, snow to the east, snow to the west and us stuck in the middle with naff all.

Lovely to see snow fall and settle (even though we've received very little), but this is just the wrong time of year for snow to stick around.

New info from ITV:

TRAVEL Update - ROADS: KENT - accident on A229 Chatham / MaidstoneThe A229 is closed in both directions at Blue Bell Hill with queueing traffic after an accident involving six vehicles between M2 J3 (Chatham / Rochester) and M20 J6 (Chatham). There two unrelated accidents on either side of the carriageway that have caused the road to be completely shut.

That explains it. Thank you! Just went up hard shoulder and came ff down side road. 6 inches here. Amazing. Thank god I just got a new 4x4
