Well that’s the last of the showers coming in from the Estuary I think for a while. All eyes on tonight now ?

snowing heavily here again now.......local roads almost impassable......valley drive, thong lane, A2.

We abandoned car and walked home the last mile or so as traffic was at a standstill

Approx 15cms of laying snow.

Temp was 1c but now back to -1C in Snow.

That was a 45 minute intense and heavy spell of snow. For a few minutes almost blizzard like. I come out and nothing has settled. In fact, it’s eroded some of the snow ‘pack’. Bizarre, no? Tm temps must be 2C+? Not complaining, but that ain’t powder!

just drove back from cuckfield to horsham in fairly heavy snow only to find our 2cm has gone :sorry: stopping now, so i think thats it for me. molly still won't get to build her snowman. :(

one thing though, roads are very wet and some places could drop to as low as -9c tonight! ice could be a serious issue...

Meto & bbc app have my location ( Ramsgate ) down for snow all day now on friday. Previously it had said snow / sleet then rain. They have also dropped temps to 0c. .(previously 3-4c).

Whats changed ??

Overestimated how quickly the high would break down letting less cold air back

Looks like possibly another spell with a weak trough from about 7-8pm through to mid-night or so moving westwards.

Snow topped out at around 10cm maybe a little more, enough for a snow person or two , which makes this the best winter for snow for at least 4 years and possibly 6 years, still a good 3 days to go or more of the cold spell including the possible Friday snow storm..

Looks like the Met office is having issues.

Radar stuck on 12:25! Why now??

And finished here now. Been left with about 6 inches. Gonna be awful tomorrow when it freezes over.

Was so nice to just talk to random strangers out walking, it's like it makes everyone happy.

The clip that I downloaded from my mobile phone, I am unable to see the snow falling or the snow that has fallen on the lawn.

Latest guidance calls for all snow, heavy at times combined with 25-45mph winds on Thursday for the entire Southeast (relevant warning issued about an hour ago - https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings#?region=se&date=2018-03-01&regionType=area ) and more of the same on Friday (relevant warning updated to expand Southeast a few minutes ago - https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings#?region=se&date=2018-03-02&regionType=area ) and the potentially more of the same on Saturday before milder air arrives (relevant warning issued a few minutes ago - https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings#?region=se&date=2018-03-03&regionType=area ).

Confidence:

Thu  -85%

Fri - 70%

Its just about freezing, we have a thick layer of snow, roughly 8CM's,  yet on the roads and pavements that have been cleared the snow fails to set during the day and the current laying snow is melting away
