I know how you guys feel, I really do. Been there many a time as a lifelong resident of one of the warmest/driest towns in the country.

Keep the faith, the winds will be swinging back and forth for the next couple of days to hopefully give everyone a shot at snow.

To be honest - and I don't mean to be harsh or pedantic - but if you had watched the forecasts you would not be surprised. Showers were always going to form streamers, narrow bands. So many areas were always going to miss out - it was never wall-to-wall snow. Feb 91 was a different beast, multiple low pressure systems in from the continent. None of that this time (down here anyway).

Also depends on how much you believe the rubbish that gets posted on here...

some people’s posts should come with a health warning....

Some very beefy showers just coming into view now; looks like many of us currently experiencing a bit of a lull will be back in business soon! :)

I agree to some extent

have been glued to every upgrade downgrade

my point is expectation as well as media seems to overhype

just not sure we can say this is a true easterly yet anyway

just my opinion

hope we all get snowed in now

Nothing like writing off a cold spell just 24hrs in. Especially considering any significant snow was not forecast for until after 30 hours!

Not what I said though at all

Right for starters I’m not being miserable

or down beat or anything like that before I say this but so far.......

This beast from the east isn’t quite cutting it , for what was progged we should all really be getting absolutely hammered.

Whether your in Dover , sheerness,

brighton and Cornwall and Devon to some extent.

this is what us south easterners look for year upon year

As I said not moaning at all but I was around in 91 that was not even a close on what we have and I know it’s early on but

something just don’t seem right

showers merging to heavy snow day or night was the form horse

this seems hard work

hope I’m so so very wrong I really do

You gotta give it time - today was the start not the main event, it’s kinda living up to expectation so far from what I see

(by the way we haven’t had a flake yet this evening...)

That is true. I've learned who to take seriously in the MOD thread. It saves disappointment. Although I don't feel this spell was overhyped at all. It's still going to give a lot of snow to a lot of areas. Seems to have gone a bit wonky Friday onwards, admittedly.

Well I was too young to enjoy Feb 91 so I have never really seen a true, 80s style easterly. This ain't a bad effort so far.

Chill. Most places will see some lying snow at some point, some places will luck out and get dumped on, a few places might get unlucky and miss out.

This was always going to be the case, as explained by others, due to the way showers form and 'cluster'. And it's still early.

Alternatively, spend some years watching, learn where the sweet spots tend to be, and move there... I can tell you the Tunbridge Wells area and just south of there in E Sussex almost always do very well in any kind of NE'rly set up. I used to be based there and you always win around there. I called a while ago and checked and it sounds like the same happening again. Over 4cm lying at last measure...

Feel very lucky and so excites for my 2 yr old twins to see it all tomorrow

Magic memories like i made as a child.

My 11 year old went to bed asking how much we'd need in order to have a snow day...just like his mum :)

Looks like the head of a streamer could well hit Worthing soon-ish.
