Right, I am going to be honest, I did not expect this thread to be so busy. Which is fantastic in my opinion. But perhaps the current plan for this thread needs to be reconsidered. As such I will soon be opening a thread for East Anglia and North London whilst this one will become the Kent, Home counties and south London thread.

It is done

A Greater London one would be preferable, or keep all of London with Kent etc..! Splitting London itself up seems a bit silly

Splitting the thread has been done for practical reasons so that everyone can keep up and the dividing line has to be somewhere and the Thames is a natural choice. No one is stopping you post into either thread

You're splitting London in 2.. It's like splitting Cambridge up in 2 based on either side of the River Cam.

Just to let Southeastern commuters know that they are recommending people try to complete their homeward journeys by 6PM tomorrow night as heavy snow is forecast from around that time.....

That's just SE trains covering their backsides though more than a forecast.

In the past they've adopted a heavily reduced timetable when the chance of snow was about 20% by every model. Didn't arive and they still ran the skeleton service.

Clearly the chances are higher now but I wouldn't trust an SE guidance for love nor money. Could come at 3pm or 9pm they put up rubbish anyway

i've got a lovely glow to the NE courtesy of an old style streetlamp which the authorities haven't replaced with LED . . . it's the only one in the street !!

Damn them . . .

Seems to be theme of temperature nudging back up as the cloud rolls over our region.. I’ve gone from -0.9 to -0.4 since 7:00pm.

usually I would understand and expect a rise when clouding over, but in this situation the uppers are dropping away and I thought that might have compensated for the cloud aspect...

any thoughts gang?

Us North London folk are perfectly happy with that. We take our passports when we cross the Thames.

Cloud building. Really Brisk ENE wind here by the sea!

Just to show you what it's currently like in the northern part of our former joint region before I go back across the border.

temp -1.1

North London can see very different weather in these scenarios compared to south London. Take the red warning in Feb 2009 as a classic example.

Seems logical to me

Hi all. Another long term lurker here from East Kent. Enjoying the buzz and anticipation this evening. Only downside to this upcoming spell being that it begins on a Monday and not at wk-end when the kids could make the most of it.

temp 1c - dp -5

Good to hear Paul, you can see further north how the air is starting to destablise and showers are starting to move towards the east coast. Should see some weak showers getting going in the next few hours. Then hopefully its downhill from there!

All of London including north London (I was there) did exceptionally well from the feb 2009 streamer. It just favoured south London more
