Ah, so that'll be why we are getting a "wintry mix" here now rather than snow.

It's funny that 24 hours ago in a group Facebook chat a mate was adamant that it wouldn't snow in Portsmouth after I posted a screenshot of the netweather radar and said it's going to snow. He was reminded by another mate that I was the weather buff of the group so was probably going to be right and thanks to all the resources and experts on here I was right.

The snow radar isn't hugely accurate as it only uses model data. It's just a guideline to be fair.

    More freezing rain here! Cherna-facepalm.gif

Still ice pellets/freezing drizzle here, blowing against the window intermittently in the strong & gusty winds.

Low of -5.4c on Thurs 1st March. High of -2c right before midnight. Crazy for any day of the winter, but 1st march, mental really.

Cor blimey, all that ppn to the south. That better all be snow by the time it gets here! Managed to miss the really heavy stuff so far.

-2C here and -2.5C dp so all good on that front.

Ah I meant the rising upper air temps, that's what the last chart is showing right? Seems we are getting the same here. Can't moan as today has been bloody awesome :):)

53 members on here vs only 20 in the MAD thread. Been very quiet over there. Seems no one wants to talk about the models whilst the radar is showing weather porn.

Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.
