We have the freezing rain here. The windows are frozen up. And the road where it's slush has just turned to ice.

It's difficult to take photo's of it at night. I can assure you, you don't want this! Everything is getting plastered in it - horrible stuff!

can somebody send a photo of the ice storms please. @karlos1983   @Mapantz

There’s not much to show really, ice pellets hitting my window. Not rain, 100% not rain! So much snow on the ground and cars it’s impossoble to see what effect it’s having.

I have measured 19cms of snow in my garden, would be 25 by now if it hadn’t started spitting ice pellet:wallbash:

nice drifts of 1.5 feet against my back fence ☹️

Want this to stop now or snow again pretty pretty please with sugar on top!

we are still meant to get a lot more snow here! about 2 inches in ground and 8 inch drifts! If the ice storm got this far north, would it melt all the snow?

it's melting some of mine, but it's also icing it over.

UK Warnings

Thursday 1 March Published at 20:37

Weather Warning

Issued by the Met Office

RED WARNING OF WIND & SNOW for South West England, and Wales

Between 15:00 Thu 1st and 02:00 Fri 2nd

A spell of heavy snow and blizzard conditions is expected. The snow will be accompanied by very strong easterly winds leading to severe drifting. Some places could also see significant ice build up due to freezing rain from later on Thursday evening, most likely in the south of the area. Long delays and cancellations of public transport seem highly likely. Some roads are likely to become blocked by deep snow, stranding vehicles and passengers. Long interruptions to power supplies and other utilities are very likely to occur, along with damage to trees and other structures due to heavy snow or ice.

The snow will become compacted... like driving on it. Turns it all to ice.

Under a bright echo on the radar now, really big, fat flakes and coming down fast :). Measured 22cm of snow in the back garden :)

Just in case you're wondering this is genuine. it's the pattern the ice has left on the window, taken from outside

Just realised what I said. Gotta be getting on for 8 inches now.

alright big boy, stop showing off! Its not the size of snow, it's what you do with it that counts

Those asking for photos of ice storms do realise how stupid a request that is? Windows will be covered in ice. The only time you can get a good photo of an ice storm is from outside and nobody should be going outside until after it's ended. Just wait.

So, some snow, as I know snow lovers love this kind of thing. Taken near Old Sarum, Salisbury at about 5.45ish. It's still snowing!

I can go and have a smoke in the nude whist in my porch as every window has frosted over. LOL

I rarely turn my nose up at extreme weather, but I don't like this!

What's the snow like there Stratty ?

Been fine powder snow constantly  - a good covering, hard to measure due to the drifting , but near 10cm? Probably same for you? Looking forward to a lovely walk in the morning with the kids!

Just had a look at the power lines and they are glistening shiny. I can only assume this is a coating of ice as well. I pray this turns back to snow or normal rain soon. If the freezing rain continues it won't be good in the morning.
