Up to 3°C now. That wind direction change has made such a difference. I'm actually hot now, and I have opened the window up. What a strange feeling!

Fark! Huge crash on the roof, then a ton of ice slid down on to the surface below.

I’m hoping that happens tonight from my roof, it’s looking lethal, want it gone before it slides onto one of my little people

Still -1 here but turned heating down ( ie back to normal winter mode). Suppose it is 10 degrees higher than 2 nights ago

Steep rises, 1.4c. Now with a matching DP

when my gauge finally thaws I’ll have about 150mm of rain overnight

Still teetering just above freezing down in the coast over in the south hams a mere 20 miles away it's up to 5c. Incredible difference!

With the thaw you have to wonder about flooding issues. Just very lucky the breakdown to milder air is gradual if suddenly we had a depression piling with a shed load of rain and 12c it would be a disaster

I think the GFS deserves some recognition for picking up on the snow event early and running with it. I lost count of the amount of posts in the MAD thread either dismissing it or saying wait for the ECM

I'd say ICON deserves a mention too they did pretty well. Thought id never write ICON and pretty well in the same sentence!

Hmmm I think they all did quite well once the signal emerged. GFS was chopping a lot between 06z, 12z, 18z & 00z, but it runs 4 times daily, 2 of which are a waste of time. For me UKMO has done best this winter in general. ECM not been great, GFS equally not great.

ICON did very well, until we got to +72 sort of time frame, then it was quite poor. But at D5/6 it was really good.

Meteoradar forecast pushes precip further north (compared to earlier) in early hours. As far north as Somerset, Mendips before heading across channel and Irish sea.

My road, still covered in snow despite quite a few cars up and down.

The parked car had icicles, and wanted to express its thoughts on the event so far.

Probably just the laying snow and ice keeping things cool and fluctuating abit as it thaws.

The thaw is coming for us all soon enough  :bad:

Up to a toasty 3.5°C now. Reservoirs of water are building up because of snow and ice creating miniature dams.lol

Yes snow turned to rain here also and now thawing well as warmer air moves in. Wildlife will be relieved - there was a woodcock sitting on the road as we drove back from the pub, not normal behaviour and presumably because the ground in the woods has been to hard to feed. He flew off as we approached so was not injured.

About to tip into the minus noughts I think. Hopefully nothing too much above zero between now and morning - I hate overnight thaws. At least it's natural during the day.
