Just looked at GFS charts, what a let down for Thursday.  Mild incoming and moment north of it with cold ( no where near as cold) elements moving around it.

Bit of a let-down much shortened cold spell regarding GFS hope it reverts back to lengthening it on the next run though.

He mentioned Friday as being a possibility; but earlier in the week no disruptive snow *at the monent*

so all could change I guess?

We might get a flurry or two before Friday with luck.

Perfect as i think they will throw in a few surprises and shortwaves.

Did you see NW own warnings. They look far more tasty from N.F

No I haven’t, I’ll take a look in a minute, easier to view on the Mac than the phone so I’ll get my butt off the sofa in a mo!

Gfs will correct itself, it loves to introduce mild weather. I think in the next 24-48 hours it will correct that low pressure south.

Don't buy the 'mild'. With thicknesses pronged as they are, for the duration there are, that 'mild' is going to be part and parcel of chucking ice from the sky.

Well another day of model watching and another day of upgrades.  I Remember when I heard about this SSW event about two weeks ago and have been hooked ever since, think it was one of Catacol's posts a few weeks ago that caught my interest, at that point it seemed a real long-shot but being snow starved, just the chance was enough to peak my interest.

At that point two weeks ago who could have imagined we would be sat here today, the Beast from the East staring right at us and about to send us into the freezer for a few weeks. Told a few of my mates at football last night and there was a few sniggers, think they thought I was losing the plot lol, but can say with a high level of confidence I will get the last laugh on that one :)

We move into the fun part now, the radar and lampost watching and that exitement that brings!

Hope you all get absolutly burried and manage to stay safe and warm.

1.1°C with the biting wind still evident when stepping outside. Might only be a light breeze but it still hits you.

Eh?...... Thursday and Friday would absolutely bury a good chunk if the South if the 12z GFS somehow verified.... I put my post code into the NWextra forecast and totted up the snowfall for Friday and into Saturday and came up 52cm!!

I'm discovering tonight, some nasty cold draughts in my home. When it's cold, they seem to give away their lair. I'm going to have to sort that out...

One thing I've found about snow and dry air is that the snow insulates the house, then draughts get a little less severe.

Is it the done thing to ask for snow predictions? I'm trying to work out if North Devon might see any at any point.

Not worth asking about at the moment, to many variables at this range, will probably have a better idea by Sunday night/Monday morning, even then it’s still not a done deal

At the moment a 7-10 day very cold spell is looking favorable currently even by january standards and maybe even longer than that. :shok::air_kiss:

Because you know that is actually going to become a memory of how mild the temps were pre beast. :good:

Is it worth getting the full NW extra, or does the cheaper package include all the good stuff like the hi-res nwx and hourly gfs charts?

I have Extra Lite - it has all I need/can understand ?
