Holy moly,

you know those pics I sent , that was only from

the back. Weird thing is I was out until 8 having fun with my son sledging and also fixing bent wiper on my car due to ice. When we got back we cleared the snow off the front door ledge but guess what

it must have chucked it down for ages afterwards because look here now I just opened front door !!!! The back snow I think blew away but deeper falls perhaps level as front more shelter !!!!

This is now!!!!

Wow that’s one snow drift! It’s like I’m back in Canada seeing these pics. What a great last blast of winter.

You must have missed my post earlier about feeding all the birds, In the garden and down the local pond :)

Lethal here, crust of ice on top of snow, ice on outside of all our back windows which fac NE.  Wind still blowing a hoolie, but temperature has risen to the dizzy heights of +0.4C.

I've fed the birds, but they are skidding on the top of the snow.  It has, however, brought Redwing, Fieldfare and LTT to feed.  First time for the first two since December 2010.

Worked out that if the ice/freezing rain overnight at Exeter had fallen as snow, there would have been 25-30cm of lying snow this morning, rivalling the blizzard in February 1978.  As it stands the peak depth was 17-18cm.

Braught in extra, once the model outputs showed this lot 2 weeks ago.

Been putting it out liberally by the tub full.

Hot water tipped into the bird baths too.

Freezing drizzle here no thaw whatsoever.

Roads impassible off the gritted routes, 4x4 only on our road. Car frozen solid, house plastered in ice.

Big fire roaring warm as toast.

Getting the feeling there won't be much here today. Fizzles out as soon as it gets close to the coast. Still more than happy with what I have on the ground and no melt at all yet.

Yes, some of the recent immigrants like Little Egrets will be wondering if they did the right thing.

Very few birds moving round here but Idid hear a blackcap singing in the hedgerow when i took the dogs out - he will be suffering as only a few overwinter in the UK.

Try defrosting your condensate pipe (assuming you have a combo boiler)

it will exit behind the boiler to the outside (white plastic pipe about 25mm wide) pour hot water on it.

its a common problem with combo boilers plumbers should use wider pipe or insulate it.

easy fix mind.

It may be something else but worth a try:)

The daily 3 mile walk to Downton took much longer today. We just had to do it though, as we drank all the beer last night.

The drifting down by the river was spectacular.

Working today, so sledging will have to wait until tomorrow.

Unfortunately were on a communal system and the whole estate is down. Nobody can gain access to the plant room, and the breakdown service is unavailable. So looks like we're cold until the thaw starts

Just walking down road to shops. Easy  6/7 inches. Drifts of around 14/15 ins in a few places. Just popped into one of our neighbours to see if she wants anything from shops.

Going dark here - snow on way?
