That is still incredible to see karlos as a winter weather nut.

Can you do a youtube video of the car window please

60mm level snow cover in Newbury, so not bad considering we were very much on the Eastern extremities of the main event. More to come, perhaps? Before the long slow thaw sets in. What a fascinating way to start Meteorological spring whatever you might think of it all. Take care all.

8cm in my garden in.Trowbridge , looking at the radar last night the greens and yellows disappeared when they got to us, think Salisbury plain nicked them, still beggars can’t be choosers ?

Is there snow due later? We have freezing rain here at the moment, everything is encased in ice!

It’s definitely thawing here now, roofs are dripping, windowcills clearing, birds water not frozen over.

Morning all, woke up relieved to find snow cover completely intact and no sign of ice on the streets so frozen rain must have missed us. Temp -0.4 so no snow melt. Clouds look black towards the channel but no new snow/sleet/whatever yet.

Not seeing where that snow is coming from on the radar, no big bands of snow to the south other than some relatively organised showers that are moving WNW rather than N as the graphics show?

So its 0c and dew point -3 yet it's freezing rain?!?! Why is this?

It’s caused by the air above being above zero, so as the snow falls, it melts to rain but still stays supercooled, hence it then freezes on the surface.

I think the front is meant to pep up and build in situ from the rash of showers that remain to south as front pivots the pushes north slowly?

Because the air temperature at the 850 levels are above zero. Apparently they need to be between 0 and 4 to be conductive of freezing rain that’s with a ground level temp of 0 or below

I think that is meant to re-invigorate as day goes on before starting to move north this evening?

Well that was fun wasn't it? Not enjoying the ice everywhere this morning.

Spring now please.

Popping in from the SE thread; I won’t hang around long! Just came to see how things went. I can’t believe the freezing rain photos, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered it before (and wouldn’t like too!).stay safe everyone. Glad you mostly all got snow in the end.

Fingers crossed. Was expecting more from the stuff to the south last night but not much came of it.

Lol someone just got stuck in their car, had to go out and help push him with someone else helping. I can see why hardly anyone is driving! Unless you live on a main road I wouldn't even attempt it, the side roads around here are impassable.
